Maaaaaybe just an exageration, but i'm just a teensy bit terrified because there's a lump in my abdomen. A few days ago my belly button started oozing pus and blood, I thus cleaned it out every three hours, applied polysporin and all that, called it a day. Sometimes your body parts ooze blood and pus. It happens. Did it for the next three days up until now.
Today, right as I was about to go to sleep, I was, naturally, gently caressing my obviously rock-solid abs, and I happened to notice a very highly noticeable lump above my belly button. Now see, blood and pus I can handle, but lumps are scary and make me think of cancer. On the one hand - no better excuse to skip finals than "cancer". On the other hand, uh, cancer.
Please tell me it's probably not cancer.
P.S: I also feel pretty weak, but i'm pretty sure that's just because of the pants-splitting terror I feel every time I move and feel a dull ache emanate from the lump.
-
Holy shit man, dont scare me like that ha ha. if it is a tumor, which is unlikely for your age, its entierly possible for it to be a benign one, and absolutely meaningless.
Possibly apendicitis.
Dont be an ifiot tho, and go to the doctor.
-
After looking it up, most results (like, dozens of people with the exact same stuff I described) seem to say it's a hernia, which i'd need surgery for, which, well, sucks, given the timing and all.

better then cancer tho
-
Well, at least you're not pregnant haha. Hope this resolves itself, man, and go see a doctor asap!
-
Yeah, it sounds like a hernia, which sucks because you'll be prone to it re-occurring under core pressure and stress (IE. anything fun).
Fortunately, you are young enough that if it is a hernia, you'll have a better healing factor that us old farts.
One way you could see if it's a hernia (probably not doctor recommended) is to try to tuck it back in with your fingers. *shudder!
-
I feel like this is above BHB's paygrade. Go to a doctor.
-
I feel like this is above BHB's paygrade. Go to a doctor.
But 'Poke It With A Stick' is tried and true medical science! ;D
-
Merry Christmas from the universe, I guess.
Hernia surgery isn't usually an emergency. I've known a lot of people who had them, and they usually put off the surgery until it was convenient for them to take a few days off work.
:( feel better.
-
Wait, does that mean I can't work out intensely? I mean, it is actually something I rather enjoy doing :(
-
Yeah. After the repair surgery you're not supposed to lift anything heavy for like, 4 weeks.
-
If you're lucky (relatively speaking), it could just be a bad abscess, which a nice lancing should fix right up.
-
Oh god no, abdominal abscesses are so, so much worse.
-
I'd take an abscess over not being able to work out any day. I pride myself greatly on my strength, this would suck so hard
Isn't much anyway, I can ignore it well enough.
-
Don't ignore it you madman!
Seriously, if it is a hernia, you could easily blow more entrails out the tear! Then you would be even more likely of a repeat later on. :P
Take the day off and go see a doctor.
-
All this talk of squishy innards is giving me the willies! ;)
Anyway, I hope it's just something inane that antibiotics will clear up.
-
Oh no, I meant I could ignore the pain from an abscess (which is the reason it sucks) if that's what I have, I know a hernia doesn't magically fix itself XD
Seeing a doctor on the 17th, going to try and hold off on surgery until after the 21rst (my last exam).
-

Nooo. Abscesses were what I had after the appendicitis. I had a drainage tube sticking out of my back for a month. & it took like, weeks after that before I could do stuff again.
If you ignore an abdominal abcess you will actually die.
-
If I ignore any strange lump that appears in my abdomen I will die. There are no good options here XD
But an abcess at least won't have long term effects. I can get it drained and have surgery and everything, ignore the pain that comes later, and then continue living my life. Muscle weakness in my abdomen means I'll never be able to play football or work out intensely without risk again.
-
This might not have helped, on second thought.
-
Lightweight sounds like a hernia, I've had a couple before. Just go to the doctor and have them check you out. As long as you avoid heavy lifting, you should be fine.
Don't know if it's like this for everyone, but every time I had one, one of my testes grew larger than the other. Check yaself mi Breda.
-
As long as you avoid heavy lifting, you should be fine.
I'm a football player and my primary workouts are heavy lifting, so this sucks beyond belief to hear, haha.
Check yaself mi Breda.
Way ahead of you.
How many times have you had them?
-
Ive had two, and neither pained me enough to really impact my daily activities. You recall suffering any sharp pain during a particularly rigurous workout? More than usual, of course.
-

If Playa can jump a weed dealer, you can probably play football.
-
Noooo, don't listen to him Drak. Football is waaay more intense than fighting just one person. Especially for your abdomen.
-

There was just one thing I did before I noticed the hernia that worked out my abdomen, was doing an exercise where I would pull myself up till my arms were pressed against my chest and hold my legs perpendicular to my body and keep that position held for about 15 seconds, then go down and repeat.
The blood and pus started way before that though, kinda came out of nowhere, think it may have been caused by some abdominal stretching I did in a martial arts and then was exacerbated by my usual exercises.
You know, assuming it's a hernia, still got two more days before I actually find out.
I feel as if Sent overstimates weed dealers/understimates the brutes you face in football XD
-
I mean the guy was around 35 years old, but still. Fights last about a minute tops until someone gets put to sleep, and even then its just your face that gets the worst of it. You're not consistently slamming into giants at top speed over the course of an hour.
-

What's with the water balloon in your pocket man? LOL! ;D
-
Hey Drak, what if it's some weird sort of parasite, that burrowed in through your naval, and is currently incubating right there in your belly as we speak?
(Just thought you should consider that...)
~you're welcome. ;D
-
So to add a medical perspective filtered through humour...
There are indeed parasites that could be growing in there that would give the exact symptoms. The two major options sadly are based in South America and Australia however it is possible one got imported and infected you, rather than getting in through the belly button though they would have been injested in your food, then burrowed through your gut lining before forming a protective layer around themselves in your abdominal cavity and growing there, somthimes they live half inside and half outside the gut and feed off your food, this can lead to a vitamin B deficiency just to warn you.
Just think, they could cut them out of you and you could keep them preserved in a jar :)
More boring is the Hernia option, trying to poke the part of the bowel back through the abdominal muscle yourself is possible but awkward, and only works if it is indeed a hernia. This option is also boring and easily solved either by massaging it back (medical massage) through or a simple surgery (you could still do some workouts but would need a few weeks off sports.) It is relatively common in people who work out a lot so is the most likely option, however it is normal and boring so let's move on...
Cancer! Sadly your symptoms don't match most of the common types but there are one or two rare types it could be which could involve surgery and multidirectional radiation therapy which is actually pretty cool and interesting (from my perspective since I can do it and from a technical perspective it is very advanced, clearly not from the patients perspective though). You also get to try being bald. But yeh cancer isn't too fun and your symptoms don't really match so let's move on to...
Giant Cysts! It could deff be a giant gooey cyst. You can even think of these as wierd giant internal spots all full of puss and goo. If they drain them, you can also often see the syringe full up with your own puss, it makes you suddenly crave milkshakes! All that lovely infection and yellows sludge mmmmm tasty looking. There is even the option of you accidently bursting it INSIDE your abdomen! Saving the best for last, you could stick a big hollow needle in your belly button and up into the cyst then use it like a belly button hose and squirt it out at people every time you squeeze your belly.
And there is your mini, humorous round up of your possible illness!
-
:( they all suck
Fingers crossed for the cyst
-
Oh my god yes forge.
When I had the one abcess drained, it was like a gallon ziploc full of chicken gravy. It was really hot, too.
-
I feel as if Sent overstimates weed dealers/understimates the brutes you face in football XD
You're probably right. My entire weed dealer experience consists of 5'11" farmer boys in John Deere hats behind bleachers with at least one scary gorilla cousin on standby, whose entire combat experience comes from football and wrestling, and all of whom probably hit like space shuttles. If I actually got close enough, I'd probably hear Deliverance banjos too.
Not that I've bought weed, but it's pretty difficult to miss them behind those bleachers. Unless you're a teacher, or a cop, or any law-enforcing authority, for that matter. Maybe it's just because I always head that way on my way home, though.
-
Shit man, good luck.
-
AWWW YEAH, IT'S A CYST!!!
Downsides: the doctor spent a sold 5 minutes pressing down on and squeezing by lump to try and see if pus would come out, and it hurt like a bitch. Then, for some utterly inexplicable reason, she had to feel up my balls.
I also have to wake up suuuuper early tomorrow to get a scan to see if they have to surgically drain it or if it's close enough to the surface that it's no problem and I can just take antibiotics for it.
-
she had to feel up my balls
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
:p. Didn't you say you could just ignore pain? Xd
Seriously, really glad to hear it's not anything permanent.
-
I could ignore the pain when someone wasn't squeezing on the mass with all their (admittedly rather negligible but still enough to be painful) strength XD
Thanks Seth :)
-
Dammit Drak, you screwed up my whole goddamn scheme!
I already passed out the fliers, hired a team of workers, and plastered the internet with ads about the Canadian football player who refuses to let Cancer get in the way of him achieving his dreams in the NFL.
The city council was swept up in tears about my proposal for the local fund raiser, and then you had to go and mess it all up by not even having cancer!
Fark you, man.
-
Lol, happy to hear, man.
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here (much like your doctor haha!) and guess that ye ol' squeeze play on the lower forty was to double check for hernia.
XD
-
Grats man, glad to hear it's just a cyst!
Oh and ball squeeze is a great double duty check, helps towards ruling out a groinal hernia and testicular cancer in one awkward moment :)
-
Yay! To drak not dying.
-
Woo!
-
Yay! To drak not dying.
Yay! To Drack making it to third base! LOL! XD
-
Aww man Fark these guys. Went back again today at 7 and just got out now. Had two ultrasounds, each with the applicant seemingly doing their best to make my cyst recede into my gut through pure force. Then some condescending Farkhat showed up and literally spent 10 minutes just trying to explode the damn thing. Okay, he was trying to get cultures to find out what was up but i still didn't like him. Is it common practice for doctors to talk to their patients like they're five year olds? His mind appeared to be blown when he realized I understood the "big words" he was using.
-
That's Nasty! :D
-
is it common practice . . .
Yes. In my experience yes it is.
-
Yup, welcome to being a patient. Most doctors just assume everyone around them are idiots.
-
Goddamit.
So, consulted a surgeon today (of course it was early in the morning and I waited three hours, why do you ask?). This guy was miles ahead of sir Farkhat, quite polite and pleasant. He also basically told me sir Farkhat didn't know what the Fark he was doing and that this was way too deep for a sebaceous cyst. He thinks it's something congenital and scheduled me for a full abdominal ultrasound (the earlier two were too superficial and didn't really give any clear results; if this doesn't work I'll ger a CAT scan).
On the bright side, sir Farkhat prescribed me anti inflammatories and anti-biopics which I've been taking religiously and I HAVE improved, the whatever it is has shrunken down massively and all pain coming from it has disappeared.
Unfortunately, my parents are getting panicky and stupid, insisting I go to a different hospital because clearly the doctors here are idiots who don't know what they're doing. Won't let them Fark things up of course, I know it takes time to figure some things out, haha.
-
Damn. Congenital seems really weird to me... reminds me of those congenital twin-cysts you sometimes hear about. Creepy as Fark. >_<
ANYway... at least it's (probably) still not cancer! >:D
-
It would not surprise me at all to find out Drak devoured a twin in the womb. :p
-

Or last week
-
Or last week
It's funny, cause it's true. ;D
-
So Drak, not really sure if you're signature is a CYS joke or a cyst joke, but either way, you should let me manipulate your well being for profit.
We'd split it 70\30, of course.
-
I like that you're willing to take so little a percentage of the profit Playa
-
No, no, no, that's not how this works. I've gotta organize, plan, and do the majority of the frauding all by myself!
All I'm asking you to do is sit in bed and have cancer.
-
XD
Don't do it, Drak! If you die in the real world, you die on the Internet too! ;D
-
Got the ultrasound, was treated to some more head scratching, getting an MRI at an unannounced time
-
EGADS! They only do that when it's an Alien Chest Popper!!! ;)
Seriously though, hope it's nothing they can't figure out soon.
-
Doctors tend to suck, lol.
If you're lucky the medicine will heal it all, which is nice.
-
Ding dong the witch is dead.
My lump disappeared :D
Which is good, because I never got that call back for the MRI appointment, was considering going to a another hospital
-
Woot woot
-
Good News!
-
. . . Because why start a new thread when this one has such a great title XD
I'm getting an MRI on Friday "just to rule out anything serious."
Meanwhile, they took like 6 vials of blood (don't know exact # because I was trying not to look)
And asked if it was okay if they tested for syphilis and HIV.
On the plus side, I finally got my new glasses. *_^
-
Is there a background to this or did they just decide you might have some terrible disease this morning?
-
Standard practise for people who need glasses to have all those tests, need to feed the Vampires afterall
-
I fell down at work. A couple times.
Over the last couple years I've been getting steadily less coordinated. But it comes & goes so I never did anything about it.
The MRI request form says they want to do a brain/brain stem scan w and w/o contrast due to gait abnormality paired with heat intolerance.
-
D: :/
Really hope it's nothing serious man.
-
It's prolly just a vitamin deficiency. They asked like 3 times if I was vegan.
I wanna know about the syphilis thing- did they have some reason to think that's what it might be, or is that just like, a standard doctor question?
-
I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure that Syphilis can hide in the body for an exceedingly long time before showing any symptoms, so it might just be a standard test to see if it's dormant?
-
Syphilis can affect the brain and cause some similar symptoms along with personality changes I believe and yup it can hang around for decades before becoming active again
-
Oh god there are spirals in my body. Like in uzumaki. D:
The blood pressure machine at work keeps reminding me that the shingles virus is already in my body, and now this. :'(
But, why do they ask if it's okay? Are there some ppl that are like "hell no, if spirochetes are turning my brain into Swiss cheese I wish to remain blissfully unaware?" They don't ask if it's okay to check if you have high blood pressure, or gingivitis.
-
Because America is weird like that I guess.
-
Because it used to be majoritively spread as an STD so people got super touchy about it. As if testing for it was somehow accusing them of promiscuity.
And the U.S. healthcare system is all about the 'never do anything that might cause a lawsuit however stupid the lawsuit might be'
-
I thought that was law systems anywhere haha.
Hope you feel better Seth, that sounds fairly intense :-/
-
Hopefully this is just a lot of worry over something easily dealt with once they narrow it down.
-

haha yes. American health system is also all about "lets do every expensive, invasive test we can think of to figure out what this is!"

'Man-whore'? Bwahahahaha! :D
-
haha yes. American health system is also all about "lets do every expensive, invasive test we can think of to figure out what this is!"
"We need to do this $400,000 ultraviolet therapy to rule out you being a vampire. Don't worry, your insurance will cover most of it."
-
Hope youre okay seth
-
Gosh damn. Testicles are itchy as Fark, and one of them is slowly turning red. Super dried out. (cant remember which one of you is a doctor)
Walk-in or no?
-
Forge is one.
I'd run to a car and ran it through a hospital entrance in terror if anything bad was happening to the trouser Titan.
-
Took another feel. Lefty and Righty are beginning to remind me of lizard-skin.
-
Maybe it's syphilis!
XD
-
Yeh... Go in and see your family doctor. Can never diagnose on so little but there are several skin infections that could cause it and most require a topical cream to get rid of. I wouldn't risk the smooth criminals, get it checked soon just incase.

Thanks dude. Will do.
-
Or, you could just hit 'em with a can of R.A.I.D.
That should kill anything down there causing problems. If that doesn't do it, holding a lighter in front of the can while spraying should give it that extra 'umph' you need.
*(Please do not really do this. But if you do, make sure to get it on youtube!)

Well, I'm attacking it with a giant bottle of Vaseline. We'll see how that goes. I'll post updates.

Wow, wasn't really expecting to click on this thread and find a conversation involving Malk furiously pounding his grayscale infected junk into submission with a slimy jelly substance, but thanks for the laughs.

Malk, if you don't clean yourself off after fapping, the evaporation will dehydrate/mummify your balls. At least give the billions of children you're murdering a proper sendoff, you heathen!

Alright folks, let's not let this go downhill any farther. :P

No, no. As moisturizer. Not as lube.
EDIT: And with that small clarification, it's time to end this delightful little chat.

I could move this to the 'I Might Be Dying' Thread if you want... ;D

Haha, man, I love this bug.
Sometimes I look at the forum on my phone and I get some weird looking shit as a result because he profile pictures bug out. In this case, every time BZ comments on Malik's nasty story habits, I see Aman's profile picture at the end, and killa's profile has been replaced by 5 of endmaster's XD

"Malik" is a new spelling.

Successfully didn't die in the giant magnet. XD
It was like an EDM club that you can't leave.
& then they slid the table out & I'm like "okay bye" & they're like "no we just have to put the IV in."
With the 950 times they had to ask "are you absolutely sure you don't have any metal shards inside your body? Really? What about your eyes? Any metal in there?" They kinda forgot to mention the IV. >_<
(Forge/ anyone: why so specific about the eyes? Do people tend to forget about the time they had metal shards removed from their eyes?)
Edit: oh my god I can't believe I missed the opportunity to to make a reference to Iron Man.
-
Hey, metal surgical implants made of titanium are fine right? I have one in my wrist, I've always wondered.

I went through this today sadly. Found out it's a positive for Parkinson's disease.
I kinda felt that it was coming after years of seizures and tremors, and the blacking out and the migraines.
I'm terrified, but glad to know what it is, and now we can treat it till I go all Michael J Foxx and whatnot.
Ugh.
-
No one should have to find that out. Hope the treatment for it helps though.
-
Hey, metal surgical implants made of titanium are fine right? I have one in my wrist, I've always wondered.
Titanium is non-magnetic, but even an aluminum can will float in an MRI's magnetic field. So you definitely don't want metal bits in your eyes during an MRI.
-
No one should have to find that out. Hope the treatment for it helps though.
I go back Monday to figure out my treatment regimen and plan. Main concern is the seizures being controlled. I can live with the shakes for now.
And @Drak, I've got 3 titanium pins and a metal cap in my knee (you may remember my posts about my knee way back in cys years ago) and I've had several MRIs and the like on it.
-
So MRI is one of my Specialties!
Titanium is fine in 99.9 percent of cases. Your average Mri only runs at 1.5 or even 3 Tesla (1 Tesla is the strength of the earth's mag field) at at these strengths Titanium is basically unaffected - I had my wedding ring made of it for this exact reason so I don't ever need to take it off. For the same reason implants made of it are totally fine.
The issue comes from Iron or steel. If it surgical steel and it has been in the body for a long time (over a year say) you can often get away with it as it will be so securely held in place in a 1.5 Tesla Mri but I wouldn't risk a stronger field than that.
And as for the eyes... The Eyes are the big risk for two main reasons:
1. If you ever worked with metal, cutting, sculpting, welding, plumbing etc. There is a chance of very small fine particles of metal getting into your eye where the action of the tears (and rubbing it) moves some of them back behind the eye into the orbit cavity where they sit and do nothing, causing no problems. You can't even tell they are there, could be there for decades.
2. If you have tiny fine particles of copper, iron or steel in your orbit when you go in an Mri... It pulls them extremely strongly to the centre of the field. In reality it means it pulls them from behind the eye, around the circumference then out the from (presuming your eye lid isn't closed) the metal is metal and Sharpe so as it moves it literally slices your eye open leaving large scars around your eyeball and in your eyelid as you close it due to what will be a lot of pain.
So Yeh it can blind you
-
1) sorry to hear, aeon.
2) wow that's cool forge, thanks!
-
1) sorry to hear, aeon.

Thanks, Seth, appreciate the concern, after the last 2 years of medical problems tbh? The Parkinson's diagnoses is the least of my concerns. I had a cancerous tumor removed from my stomach in Sept. And spent almost 2 months of treatment for that. Luckily I'm bald, but my beard started falling out in places. It's grown back in rather nicely though. So I'm cool with that.
Hard as feck to take us LeValley boys out.
-
Well nobody's dying (yet), but family emergency and all that.
Won't be as active at CYS (or anywhere) for awhile, so if anyone wants to insult me over there (or here for that matter) it will be a fair fight. :D
Still hoping to get some writing done on Rogues during the downtime (Finished all the beginning main branches of male path so far).

Sorry to hear. Hope things are okay.

Try gnawing a cold aloe vera stalk?

Oh harsh man, they seriously suck... And yeh, sry but not much you can do. Maybe a gum numbing thing like 'Oragel' might relieve symptoms a little...

DAMN YOU FORGE

IT WAS DELICIOUS
-
I come to you again for advice.
So, about a year and a half back I hurt my left foot hiking up a mountain while wearing socks that were too short for the shoes I had on. The back of the shoes scratched against my foot until it broke skin in several areas. While the breaks healed, when I was picking off the scans some few weeks later there was a slight growth in one of those areas, which I assumed was just more scab, so I kept on picking at it for quite a while.
Anyway, a year and a half later and several pickings, the growth has become about the size of a small pea and continuously regenerates. I've been seriously considering cutting it off, and am concerned it might be cancerous and that I should see a doctor.
-
Amputate from the knew down, it's too late to save the leg...
Hmm, dermatological stuff is really not my area at all. I'd say get is seen though just in case.
-
Could it be scar tissue?
-
You should check with a dermatologist to be sure.
(What color is it?)
I have a pea-sized lump on my shin. Showed up a couple years ago; looks like a pimple, or skin right after a scab comes off. I forget what dr called it- not keloid but something similar. Not cancer. Said its caused when a small cut gets irritated/infected & responds with over abundance of scar tissue.
-
That sounds just about exactly like my thing (Seth), right down to the appearance too.
Dermatological appointments generally take a while so I definitely plan on making one but this has a chance to get me some friendly advice a little faster :)
-
Dermatofibroma. That's what it's called.
