Yeah, Anton has the level one ritual that lets him see, Kiril makes his way through with his other senses - touch, smell, sight, hearing, etc.

Dealing with, summoning, binding and injuring the spirits of the dead is the exclusive purview of Necromancy and Mortis (which are essentially the same) - nothing you will ever learn in any of your Thaumaturgy rituals or paths will ever be able to affect them in any way whatsoever. When it says "spirits" there it is referring to umbral spirits - different entities entirely.

The only way for you to injure a spirit is either through a necromantic artifact specially designed to do so or *rolls (Three successes at diff 8, quite nice), for you to find the spirit's fetish (what keeps it grounded in the mortal world). This can be anything from its body to an object of strong emotional importance. On finding the fetish you can destroy it (and send the spirit to the underworld) or use it to blackmail the spirit into doing what you want.

OK, so what about Calling the Restless Spirit?

This ritual allows the caster to speak with someone who has died. Successful casting requires an Intelligence + Occult roll (difficulty the target's Willpower); the caster needs two sussesses. This ritual must be cast within 10 feet of the corpse. If the caster attempts to communicate with a ghost, she does not have to be near the body but must be in the area the ghost haunts. This spell does not affect vampires unless they have been destroyed.

Burning Blade
Developed during Clan Tremere's troubled inception, Burning Blade allows a thaumaturge to temporarily enchant a melee weapon to inflict unhealable wounds on supernatural creatures. While this ritual is in effect, the weapon flickers with an unholy greenish flame.

Okay, so you can talk to them - but actual interaction (physical, magical or otherwise) is off-limits. It's part of why Giovanni and Capadocians are feared, their servants are perfect information gatherers and most cannot be affected by Kindred at all.

Burning blade relies on you actually touching the ghost, which you are unable to do (and it is likewise for the ghost, it's very rare to find one who can actually affect you from across the shroud).

I have been purposely avoiding reading up on anything to do with ghost or related vampiric abilities cos I think Heldric WOUlDNT know much about them and is easier to play him that way lol
