Tendrils have a limited range, that corner of the room is the one part left not inundated with tendrils summoned by Basilio and his shade. Anton and Kiril both have their tendrils on their person, and you guys are also out of range of Husayn.

Ahriman's grasp is meant to describe the tendrils' reach.

Just barely. He's at crippled with aggravated wounds, most of his blood gone as well.

Husayn couldn't do anything even if he wanted to. No blood left (at all), one arm gone, most of his willpower pool spent, the other arm soon to be destroyed by his blood acid, and riddled with aggravated wounds. He'll be in torpor by the time you make any sort of decision regardless - if not from his wounds then from the fact that he spent his last blood point there at the end activating Potence to try and break through the tendrils (he broke through by one success, but Kiril was there so it would have been pointless, he'd have just been stopped anyway).

How it works is: basically, the weaker the vampire whose soul you devour is, the more negligible the side effects are. For example, you wouldn't even notice a 13-12th gen vampire. As you go higher though, the side effects grow worse. If you are an ante or a methuselah, then you'll have to be careful, have maxed willpower and take extreme preparation to suppress their strength before commiting diablerie, otherwise you'll just end up like Tremere and Saulot.

Of course, the derangements are all temporary - though the worst ones will last centuries and will only weaken, not quite go away. Someone who diablerizes Michael might be back to something almost like their old selves after a century of torpor and three centuries of recovery.

The effects also grow weaker as you rise in generation. A fifth gen (born a fifthgen or a vamp who has diablerized one and gotten over the side effects) will have way fewer problems diablerizing vamps than you will.

The gist of it is up there. Diablerizing someone carries benefits and risks - even if they're a higher generation than you.

The stuff as written is for vampires of your generation. A sixth generation will have less problems than you guys have, a fifth generation less so, and so on.

All derangements are temporary, but the worst (just short of possession by a fourth or fifth gen) could last millenia, the voices could last centuries, personality quirks could take decades to work out, etc.

In addition, diablerie is highly addictive and is a horrific act, leaving a stain on your soul so to speak. You'll likely gain the addiction flaw, and there's the usual black veins in your aura (that don't leave for years) which mark you as the vilest of murderers in kindred society.

I thought we were not PVP attacking each other in game though, having agreed to make this a cooperative campaign (KOing a fellow player to get what you want crosses the line).

If this is the president however, then none of us are safe from each other; and the campaign is going to see some player attrition before it's through.

Diablerizing both? Damn... It's like in D&D, where one player hogs all the magic items...

The *only* reason I went that way was because it seemed to fit the story, and I *thought* my fellow players and I were on the same side, that we'd cooperatively agreed this would be interesting to play.

Instead theyre actibg like im trying to wreck their story. and you, too, BZ, complaining I'm "taking all the magic items?" Glass houses, steeple stole from the group last chapter.

As far as precedent: Drak flat out Farking told me to have kiril incapacitate Anton. Now he says he didn't intend that as encouragement for me to do it.

So *whatever*! I'm fine with Kiril leaving everyone alive, if thats what drak wants. Fark it, I'm fine with just standing back& letting the npcs drive the action, if that's how it has to be.

If the general masses of vampire population finds out that Kiril is running the town (without a elder at his back) then the more powerful of them will probarly try. Husayn was probarly hired for that very reason.

Anyway, I apologize for butting in with my blunt observations and acknowledge that it is your side quest (Aman & Sethaniel).

Resolve it mutually between yourselves, but don't just yield the entire thing outright because there is a little contention over the issue.
