Title: Masters Test

Wish me luck – I’ll be driving up to Connecticut to take my Fourth Degree Black Belt test in the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do.  As the test covers three days and I’ll be taking at least two for travel, I’ll be offline (and off the forum) until Monday February 9th.  There is the slight possibility that I’ll have access once or twice during the trip, but I’m not counting on it  :)

Preemptive congratulations to you! I need to get back into martial arts. I kind of fell out of it just before I got my blue belt in Jeet Kune Do. School complicates things so much!

Good luck on your test honey. My test is surviving 5 days with our 4 children while you are playing with your friends. How about wishing me luck? (Just kidding) I am very proud of you . TANG SOO!!!!!! ;)

Well, I survived (and actually did quite well I think).  It was quite the experience, something I will never forget.

It will still be some months or so before I actually get the rank presented, but the hard part is over.

It might also take a while for my toe prints to grow back, having sanded them completely off on the dojang mats over the three day period  ;D

My hamstrings are still shot, but the rest of me is starting to recover - and I might even have got a toeprint or two back  :)

Thanks - And I've been all about keeping things light this week  :)

I knew it had taken a lot out of me when I went to a mall the day following the test and had to sit down and rest after walking only a few hundred yards.

I now have a date for when I'll be presented my Master's rank – May 16th.

I also just finished of a project that went along with the test.  I wrote a 64 page 'how too' instruction manual for running a Women's Self Defense and Rape Prevention seminar.

It happens to be the same course I ran at Gencon 2007 and will be running at Origins 2009 ;D

Been away for the weekend (up in Old Saybrook Connecticut) with the Pyong Hwa Kunin Tang Soo Do Association and visiting Great Grand Master Song, Ki Kim, of the World Dang Soo Do Union.

We had some wonderful seminars with the Great Grand Master, and of course, I was finally presented with my belt and the rank of Master, in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do.

It has been a long journey for me – I started this road over twenty years ago – but where one journey ends. a new one begins J

well done, my friend!  i guess the next step is for you to travel to China to finish your training under Pai Mei.  now that you're a 4th degree black belt, i feel the need to get back on the mat with you and receive my 4th degree black & blue marks!  until then, i simply leave you with my congrats!
