Rai smiles and says, "Sometimes a persons philosophy will have to change due to outside forces." Rai waits till no one is around says, "How do you feel about the Chinese ruling over us?"

Rai rises an eyebrow, "I agree they are by far the worse thing that has happened to us. Why tell me though?"

"I have my reasons, it's a personal matter." She looks at him. "Why do you want to know? What do you mean by 'the worst thing that has every happened to us'?" A spark of sadness breaks into her voice for a second. "What happened to you Rai?"

Rai sighs, "I need people to trust. They came here killed our men and then forced themselves into our families and decided to rule over us."

She seems surprised at the rather open way Rai talks to her about such things. She does make sure to check the area around them before responding to him.
"I see... Well; since we are basically calling ourselves 'traitors' to the government that we serve I might as well tell you. My father served in the war, not suprisingly; but nearly 14 years after the war a group of soldiers attacked the manor at night and destroyed my home. A soldier found me hiding and gave me this scar, I only survived because of a brave young boy who knew some basic surgery..."
She takes a slow breath before speaking again; glancing at him to see his reaction. "That soldier told me it was our Daimyo who ordered the attack. I know I have no proof but I will not rest until my father's killer is destroyed; and as far as I know it's the Daimyo. My desire for revenge nearly caused me to join the traitor magistrate just for the chance to see him dead..." She bows her head in for a moment.
She pauses for a second, angry and tense but somehow relaxed at the same time. "You're not like other samurai Rai, what are you and why are you with us?" She gives a slight friendly smile. "If you need anyone to trust then I am at your service."

You can't say a thing to anyone not even the others. Do you understand?" As he stops walking and looks at her.

She nods solemnly. "Your one of the few people who know about that night now. I've kept this even from Yuki, I don't know what she would do if I told her. You can trust me." She stops to look at him as well, occasionally glancing around to make sure they are actually alone and not being overheard.

Rai closes the distance between them and wishpers, "My name is nott Rai Tsukahara. It is Rai Go-Udo." With that he turns and starts walking again.

She seems in awe to be in next to the Emperors (last/only) son. "We will however, have to treat each other as equals until you are truly Emperor again; I will have you know that while I will still seek my revenge on the Daimyo who wronged my family I will not put you in danger to fulfill my vengeance."
"I do have one question though, will we tell any of the others in our group? I think Keitaro would be trustworthy enough if he would ever stop his drinking."

Finally reaching Miya's home Rai says, "It is late. If you want to know the rest now I can go in. If you don't mind waiting we can talk at my home tomorrow."

"Hmm... No, I think it's best if we part ways for now. I have to think all this over." She gives a slight grin. "Perhaps the world still has some hope after all. Thank you for walking me home tonight Rai, be safe on your journey home."

Rai nods his head and says, "Your welcome." As he walks to his house he sees smoke on the horizon and wonders what happened but since it was not near his home or the place his doshin patrol he ignores it and keeps moving.
