I could definitely be convinced to shell out 25$ for that. (Though I'd need to convince my dad to pay for it online, ha ha)

I'm still interested in trying to set this up, but I won't even have time to look at it until the weekend ...

Take your time with this and do it carefully and properly. If it involves real money be as slow and careful as possible, Then once its all set up the way you want it I for one will go for it as will many others I'm sure.

That way everyone is happy with the result.

I got a job that demands too much of my time. Still thinking about how to do this though.

Maybe I should test it out to see if it would work...

So, Forges idea of the day.

Simply set up a paypal account, link to it here with your linky linky skills, (Made easier by paypal having embed tools) then in the paypal thing have it so that we enter our name/e-mail or must be signed it so it tracks who did it or whatever in a notes or comments section. Once you receive the thing saying we paid, you give us access to a hidden board with the stuff up to dl or e-mail us it!

ooo upload them onto a secure drop-box account. Then send out the access link in pm to people who pay you!

This idea actually isn't any more secure and sucks ignore it.

Can you make a hidden sub-board, then give people mod access to that specific board like you do for when we make games once paid, so only mods can get in to see or dl things...

making it manual for you to do rather than fully automatic might be safer but more work. My lack of programming and site knowledge isn't helping here...

I blame Aman. He's 2 cool

If you're concerned the files could be seen, you could make them a passworded .rar file and only give the pass to those that actually pay, as sort of a double layers security (given they can only access that section after they pay anyway).

Oooo nice, passworded or encrypted files, so even if the wrong people get them, they are locked until you pm the pass!

Once I have set up the Subscription (it's good for 15 years - as close to Permanent as the system can handle), you will be able to buy the subscription from Profile > Actions > Paid Subscriptions.
Title: Re: BHB Products Here On The Comlink

The BHB Titan Subscription is now available through your Profile!

As this is the first time we are trying this, I'm not sure what to expect yet. It should change your Group Membership when you sign up (allowing you access to the Private Swag Forum). If it doesn't I can manually add you to that Member Group.

For Global Mods (Aman & Drakilian), it will add you to the BHB Titan Member Group first, then I will have to change that to BHB Titan Mod to restore your Mod Powers.

Well, if you can convince me that BHB is a better system then QAGS to use when you want to go on a Knights vs. Aliens rampage with your friends parents, then I'll restrain myself from squandering my pile of quarters on gum and aloe drinks even more fervently then before!
Title: Re: BHB Products Here On The Comlink
Post by: BerkaZerka on February 24, 2015, 07:39:38 am
I can't dis QAGS! Love that system, because it's so similar to BHB and great for running beer and pretzel games where you don't want to worry too much about the rules haha!

Defiantly get QAGS! Then get BHB for something like QAGS, only with a lot more depth and crunch!  ^v^

Title: Re: BHB Products Here On The Comlink

Actually... Which system, QAGS, BHB, or otherwise, would be best for a Dungeon-Crawlie + Open-Worldy type-game with custom races and classes?  I know that Dungeons and Dragons works sometimes, (I've read a book about orcs in Kingdoms of Kalamar which really explores the things you can do with classes/races.) but I have no idea which edition to use, and I'm not sure I could handle fotzing around with all those numbers without a lot of things messing up. (Especially if I get to any of the parts with exponential powers.)

Basically, I'm looking for something with freedom, (but not too much freedom, because there's just something cool about having a ruleset.) where roleplaying can be a higher focus point, and where you can create all manner of custom shit. BHB looks pretty good, as far as the right amount of freedom goes, but, from what I've seen, it's really lacks the inherent racism and classism that you can have in a D&D character sheet.

Definitely need some help and advice from more experienced system gamers.

Post by: BerkaZerka on February 26, 2015, 11:52:33 am
Both BHB and QAGS are 'Classless' Systems, where you custom buy directly with with XP.

You could check out the BZ Fantasy Build Forum or Mythic Nippon Game (using Fantasy BHB) to get an idea of what you can do with the system in a fantasy regard.

For a class-based system, d20 D&D is tops - though I liked the d20 Conan the Barbarian game a lot too!

Would this place  be a reliable source?

http://www.d20srd.org/

I guess, since it's free, that I'll be able to get BHB anyway.

Could one introduce a class system in BHB by allowing people to buy things customly, but allowing different skill trees for each class? (E.G. One guy has a Default Skill Tree, which gives him an advantage in general, and then a Ranger Skill Tree, which allows him to upgrade the things that a hunter does.)

The races I have in mind probably wouldn't translate into BHB well, though, since creatures like Mermaids and Grues are downright superhuman.

Post by: Not Aman on February 26, 2015, 01:15:37 pm
You could (as the GM) restrict people from buying specific skills, but it's inherently classless. Albeit I feel that's the best way it works. Forcing people to play a specific way is annoying (imo). If I want to play a Presence based warrior, I should be able to, just a a wizard should be able to be a athletics and agility focused. It shouldn't be based on class but on what the character's backstory is. ^_^

Races are pretty easy to do in BhB. Just give them NPC edges. (BZ has a list of possible npc edges, like foul stench, invisible in water, etc etc). Adding cool edges is definitely possible, as its a very easy system to just add crap to. (Like in Forge's Halo game)
Title: Re: BHB Products Here On The Comlink
Post by: Forge on February 26, 2015, 01:18:02 pm
I custom generated a lot of stuff from the halo universe using the BHB system and it was really easy to make that stuff fit the system, it adapts very easily.

for making classes though... Class systems are basically saying "We rail-road you into only doing certain things, but in return we let you get REALLY good at them" You could probably create that in BHB by simply locking out certain paths and putting caps on certain abilities for players while giving innate 'racial' buffs to others. I cannot imagine how it would actually play out though.

As Aman just said. Edges and flaws might be a good way to bring racial stuff in. the right mix of edges and flaws can make for very different char types, just change the description slightly.

1. Oh, nonononono, I don't want to do that Railroady thing. You can have presence and other default skills/feats, classes just dictate what kind of super-special abilities you can buy up front. Like, a Black Paladin can use ethereal chains to trip/pull his foes, but a Hunter is going to have to do some serious training into the Black Magic branch of the default skill tree if he wants to do that. Effectively, you could be a shotgun-wielding battlemage with a 2h sword if you hoard enough EXP points, but classes just select various skill tree abilities and make them easily accessible depending on how you want to play early in the game, or what your prerequisite skillset is. Like the Dark Souls class thing, but it matters a bit more.

EVERYTHING is available in the default tree for everyone, classes just take convenient scoops out of that tree to save time and mix up the party's skillsets.

2. Okay, sounds fun!

Definitely getting BHB then. Just what I need.
The best example would be Ki Master, which is an edge that makes it easier to get pretty much all of the (close) combat edges as well as the atheltics edges, and Forest Ward, which allows you to get a bunch of stealth, medic, and outdoors edges easily.
