Window and post loading takes significantly longer since the update, I used to click post or click a link and 9 times out of 10 it would be loaded in under 2 seconds, now it often sits for several seconds before anything happens, occasionally times out. Its not my net cos I have other tabs open (I ALWAYS have several tabs running) and tey all run normally.

To the West Squirrel keeps heading to the meeting point but thinks she hears some gun fire behind her, she isn't sure though.

Karl stays hidden in the tree lone watching the fight unfold, he is badly injured afterall

Lin and Juan both whip out their Pistols and get off a single shot each, they fire just as the men converge on Lin to run him through. Lin hits one in the arm while Juan clips one in the side, neither go down. Aviur reaches them at this point burning pewter and hits one hard in the back sending him flying to the ground and causing the other to break of his attack and turn to work out where the other two people suddenly appeared from, he is the one with a wound to his side. The one on the ground is still moving.

Lial is still unconcious and is not aware of what his attackers are doing. However if he were awake he could be sure they heard the gunfire from over the wall since they are all so close.

Inside the compound Lial breaks into a particularly humorous hobble run as he burns his dwindling reserves of metals at the men. Since he knows the enemy is trying to affect his emotions Lial is able to regain controls of them or ignore them enough to be unaffected, after all a trained mind can ignore all but the most extreme emotions if he knows what's happening.

Unfortunately for Lial his opponent is also a very well trained mind and he counters Lial's emotional alomancy with his own and basically cancels it out on his partner and himself. His parter now shows his training and despite a burnt hand whips out a pistol from his belt and takes a snap shot at Lial, this hits the shield on Lial's back and does no damage. At this moment a distraction could have saved Lial however there was no distracting noises or sights and the man's second shot hits Lial's arm, knocking him to the ground.

This is just one wound too many and Lial loses consciousness, he is also still bleeding from the bullet wound in his arm putting him in further danger, assuming the two men in suits don't finish him off.

To the West all members jumped into the time bubble and so miss out on doing anything.

Karl makes his way South through the trees and although he misses the bodies he does look to the light near the wall and sees a super slow-mo scene of Lan ducking in front of two armed guards who are inching towards him and both Aviur and Juan mid air in semi-heroic poses slowly landing behind and to the side of the guards respectively.

Squirrel heads further to the West towards the Western tree-line and the meeting point for after the mission.

The Time bubble drops and everyone gets to move again now, The guards Are still Targeting Lan having not had time to react to Aviur or Juan

To the West Lin rushes at the guards, who see him coming and react very quickly the moment he enters the torchlight, one raises a spear and the other loads and half draws an arrow to shoot him before he gets close enough to catch them both in the bubble, where for all intents and purposes time freezes for them as everyone else gets to move. Aviur sees nothing but suddenly Lan and the two guards simply stop moving. She warns Juan before leaping into the super-slow-mo bubble to take out the guards and protect Lin and also freezes.

Juan is left outside the bubble watching the 4 people not moving and takes the time to check his gun and bullets and prepare to fire.

To the North Karl has reached the Western woods and is moving slowly South, he is pretty close to some dead guards right about now but hasn't spotted them yet. Squirrel moves easily through the trees, rarely coming close to the ground and just about reches the North-West corner of the trees.

Inside the compound Lial gets overconfident due to the rioting and sort of run-limps in an ungainly but surprisingly fast fashion towards the stables. This is the moment he looks to his right when he hears somthing and sees two men in suits who just walked round from the North side of the building. One raises a rather nice looking rifle and takes aim at Lial, the other just smiles and Lial is hit by a sudden feeling of his boosted confidence vanish and a wave of fear fear which pauses him in his tracks for a second. Which is when he sees the gun fire.

Right after that he realigns his emotions and notices that he hasn't been shot and the man has dropped the gun which is smoking oddly and the man is holding his hand to his body.

To the North Karl jogs west and is nearing the western tree line. Squirrel makes sure no-one is near and checks her stash, as well as a fair bit of spending money she has nabbed a smal pile of books and 3 of them seem to match the description she saw, she stows them carefully in her pouch with the coin tied to her belt and puts the others in her satchel.

To the West Lan starts sneaking into position to catch the guards in a bubble once they are close, which they will be in a few seconds time. Aviur and Juan hang back and banter a little while they wait for him to raise the bubble deciding whether they are killing or simply maining the guards.

Lial quickly patches up his flesh wounds, he is deffinatly coming out of this one with new scars, and starts assessing his situation. He hears no guards near him either inside or outside the door and the only two he can see are two over by the main gate since they are carrying torches. He isn't shot at again while doing this however he suddenly feels very overconfident about the whole situation. (You were sucessfully rioted so going to have to act confident next turn.)

To the North Squirrel puls the embedded coins out of Karls gut and patches him up, its only a temporary measure but he wont deteriorate further and can move about more normally now. He shrinks back to normal size as he begins heading West to meet the others. Squirrel heads for the trees to the North and finds the base of the tree she stashed the items in.

To the West the team discuss the best move to make on the two guards who are just passing them, about 80 feet away, however they will reach the corner and be returning very soon, they all spot the guards seem to not be wearing any metal and carrying staves and bows along with the lit torches.

Inside Lial gets to the main entrance area, just inside the closed door, when he notices the guards starting to recover from his manipulation and stabs them both. One goes down fast but the other reacts to the attack and gives him yet another flesh wound for his trouble. Lial realises that he is going to have to be very careful as too many more flesh wounds and he will bleed out regardless of the giant hole in his leg.

To the West the guard gives them the nod then begins jogging away for them without a further word.  The group then all head back towards the compound, they are closing in on the edge of the tree line and they all see that the two guards are still patrolling with torches.

To the North the lurcher makes to attack Squirrel however she is faster and this time her move works, when he attacks, she counters with a twisting lock hold pinning him very quickly with his shield uses as a hinge point against his own elbow. Squirrel sitting on his back that if he moves he puts himself into a whole world of pain. A quick blow to the temple puts him unconscious. Karl takes a few steps West to where Aviur and team are before remembering that Squirrel also knows first aid.

Inside the Building Lial sucessfully gets the two guards to flank him and arms himself with a spear. His Flair affect time is counting down though.

quick reference enemy list!
Elites - the enemy leaders, look like oversized humans in blue armour,  always extremely dangerous
Grunts - cannon fodder, small with a giant bulbous tail, dangerous in groups. Cowardly
Jackals - flankers and snipers. Small humanoids, amazing senses and agility. Dangerous at range
Buggers - giant insects, dangerous in swarms
Brutes - think of a grizzly bear crossed with an angry teenager. Very dangerous in CC
Hunters - think of a giant armoured statue come to life, with siege weaponry and giant shield


This will later become the full In-Game knowledge of the species you may or may not encounter during the game. This is NOT all the info on them available and you can easily look up several websites and books that have more, including the limited edition ones I own muhahaha.

However your charicters ONLY know whats in these threads so no slipping in outside knowledge about the aliens or their weapons or their abilities k? cos if you try I will Gm-fiat their abilities to be different from cannon law just to screw you over for trying it out :) I'm a nice guy that way.

Ok so you are all cadets in the same military academy, you all study the same basics and are similar levels of intelligence and physical skill. That doesn't however mean you don't have your own areas of expertise. You are all 19 or 20.

These areas are summarized below and DO affect your stats, a full base stat sheet will be posted later and at that point I'll show what each specialty effects however it's fairly obvious if you think about it.

All marines can handle the standard handheld weapons with slightly varying degrees of ability, all are basically trained in driving the warthog and all have basic tech knowledge.

One thing that you must note (for both roleplaying and for a few background rolls I will be making if the need arises) is that none of you have ever seen actual combat before or even dead bodies. Unless you have a very good reason in your back story. Most of you are sent here by parents who are already in the military, high standing in society or wealthy while others sent you here to gain prestige and move up in society. Not all Grunts get special academy training, most get boot camps. You are expected to be the ones working your way up to positions of command.

A possible reason for you having seen bodies or combat is if you were present in an insurgent attack, you would have been a child or young teenager at the time and NOT a combatant. Include this with some detail in your backstory if you want but not everyone can be an 'insurgent orphan'.

Forward Unto Dawn / Maps and Area Description

This is the map of the interior of the small base which has been your home for the past two years as you have been training to join the military. This is the map displayed on the wall in miniature and the map on the computer system. (in the setting this is awesome and 3D and possibly holographic, sadly when converting from 3D hologram to a picture it rendered it like a drawing in paint.)

The Pod-Like structure is due to many of the base pieces being dropped in whole or re-purposed from a large vessel sent in with supplies and designed to be split into rooms upon landing. Red lines in doorways indicates high level security blast doors. the blue thing in the main area is a water feature with a statue in the middle of a Roman general.

The base contains most of the amenities that are needed for a comfortable life but it IS a military training academy so slacking off, being drunk, disobeying orders or going where you are not allowed is immediately followed by disciplinary action. There has been an on-going war against insurgents which you were all training for, but in the past month, details of Alien invaders called 'The Covenant' have been released to military personnel.

The insurgents are now in a turmoil half wanting to join back up with Earth. Initially having not believed the military, claiming it was a trick, however in the past 3 months several instillation and colonies have gone silent with between 95% and 100% casualty rates.

You know the base well due to your time here, however most of you will never have been into certain rooms or areas due to restricted access, you may have wanted to try however most of you will have never even thought to actually risk the attempt. Disobeying orders and trying to break into secure areas in a time of war can be classed as treason after all.

Things to Note
1. Red lines indicate high security blast doors
2. You know there are ducts between the structures for power and air circulation but none of you know any real detail
3. You know there are, at any one time, around 6 Warthogs in the Garage with more out on patrol or training missions, some passenger types and some with mounted guns. There is one Scorpion tank assigned to the base.
4. The indoor training area is a gallery with blast-glass at ground level for people to watch the sunken combat area. It can be controlled from the Sim room where cover can be extended or retracted from the floor, walls and ceiling to form new and complex environments. There are several common patterns that are used regularly which you are all very familiar with. Standardly used for small team warfare training.
5. Training exercises are carried out in real combat armor and helmets, real guns are used but they fire stun rounds, similar to a Tazer but they fire just like real bullets and really hurt when you get hit on top of the stunning you.
6. A typical day is: Breakfast in the canteen, morning training, Lunch in the canteen, afternoon training, late dinner in the canteen, evening free until lights-out. Training might by physical training outside or Warfare Theory and Tactics inside.
7. Every room has a terminal of some sort which can connect to the academy systems and 'internet'.
8. You never keep weapons, live ammo or armor in your dorm. This is a training academy not a live military base.
9. The officers quarters is a 3 level structure - Officers on top layer, Marines on the ground layer and basement layer, They DO have their own gear and weapons in their lockers.
10. Storage room A is also the laundry room etc.

To the North several things happen almost simultaniously. Karl groans and tells Squirrel to go after the coinshot in roughly the exact time it takes the mans body to land and Karl notices that his chest is significantly more concave than a humans chest is supposed to be and he isn't moving except for the blood dribbling out of his mouth and nose. Followed by a couple of coins turning him into swisscheese, just to ensure that the guy with smushed up liquid for internal organs was REALLY dead. He makes a move after the lurcher but the man is not within his reach due to his now more restricted movement. He has closed the distance though.

Squirrel miss-reads the lurcher's intentions and has no idea that his raising of the shield and smiling means he had just grabbed the coins RIGHT BEHIND HER, between her and the wall and just pulled them towards himself, meaning Squirrel was about to be sliced right through. Very Very luckily for her she uses her steel to brace back against the wall before trying to fire coins at the coinshot. Her manouver is very sucessful and while she doesn't have any coins right between her and the coinshots landing site she easily uses some of her own to fire them precicely at the point she expects the coinshot to make his landing. The main lucky part is that in bracing hard off the metal on the wall behind her she actually manages to mostly deflect the coins that the lurcher pulled at her.

To the West the guard replies to the Chatter "Hey hey, don't worry I have no loyalties here and wont be betraying you to the guards. Its not as if they would trust of believe me now is it? Either way I'm heading back to the city, if your is town soon look me up" he says to Aviur with a wink.

Juan and Lin see no other enemies in the area.

Inside Lial limps out the door, swinging it shut behind him to block line of sight from the window and begins firing at all the guards he sees, he manages to hit the nearest guards with wounding hits. He is left with no bullets and sees no more guns or ammo, there are however a couple of spears and a sword near his feet. There are three guards still alive in the corridor but not in fighting shape and two guarding the inside door to the Westernmost staircase who he calls out to and they seem to respond favourably. The moment he does however, a bullet comes right through the closed door and leaves a cut along his cheek. Not a wound but deffinatly a scar once he gets it stiched.

"Indeed I thought the lass was going to finish me off around now but I'll happily agree to my own survival instead, and don't worry, there's no reason for me to betray you now since everyone who knows who I am is dead in that clearing so I can walk away with the coin. Insisting on pay in advance has certain advantages."

To the West the man is about to answer Aviur when Lan approaches and also asks his questions. The man looks very confused by this old man suddenly joining his interrogations but shrugs it off, hes already agreed to help hasn't he. Juan stays keeping an eye out for guards.

"All right, basically about a week ago my crew gets approached by some lesser noble. He hands me a purse full of coin to bring my men with me and come guard this place for 1 month. Free food, free bed and all we got to do is march around the walls. Was looking like the easiest money I ever made till this little firecracker came along" He winks at Aviur, she notices that he has a fair number of large scars himself and doesn't seem at all put off by her appearance. "Well about what we were told, basically that the Nobles or house Urbain had some valubles here that they though might be the target of other 'people of influence' so we were to help secure the building untill the danger past." Taking another look at Aviur he adds "You caught me by surprise with your feint there since I underestimated your abilities after the first few blows but if you see the 4 Suits don't by any means take them for granted. Well thats about all, guess its time." he says with a grin.

Inside the building Lial Flairs his dwindling metals to buy himself time. His own emotions seems very off though for some reason, wait, he knows exactly what is going on, another enemy is attacking him with brass or zink to make him loose the will to fight. He manages to bind his leg and prevent himself from bleeding to death but is still inn bad shape. He is pretty sure that his blast of emotional alomancy will buy him a little time unless the other user gets involved.

To the North Karl and Squirrel decide on opponents outloud and make their moves, Gidgy launches off her prepared boost and Karl with his bulk ready to go charges the coinshot. The coin shot is still slightly stunned from Squirrels previous attack and doesn't get a chance to react when she blasts past him but spins in time to meet Karls charge. He covers the ground quickly for a adonis build but the man is very very quick and releases a handfull of coins into the air, blasting them into Karl at near point blank range leaving no time to dodge. Instead Karl follows through and his punch to the solar plexis sends the man literally flying through the air for a fairly large distance.

At the same moment Squirrel Reaches the man she proclaimed to be a lurcher, he has longer to react than the coinshot did and starts an uppercut with the edge of his buckler, squirrel uses her momentum and training to pivot it and goes for the grab on the arm as she slides past his attack. Sadly for her he moves to the side as he strikes and is out of her reach as a result leaving them passing with neither scoring a hit and Squirrel between him and the wall, Karl on the far side of him and the coinshot mid-air several metres away. Squirrel just has time to see the man raising his shield and grin slightly.

OOC: Karl is now officially bloodied with several coins half stuck into his stomach, his advanced musculature, quick take down of the coin shot and close distance prevented him from being stabbed right through like a normal person would have been.

Inside the house Lial quickly scans the room and notices the locked draws on the upturned table. Wasting no time he uses the butt of his gun on the lock and grabs out 2 books which vaguely match the description of the books he was after and shoves them into his pouch, however, he isn't deffinate any of them are the right books. It is at this moment that two things happen. Firstly the door thumps but holds. Secondly Lial hears a shot about the same time as he feels a significant amount of pain in his right thigh and realises that he is now lying on the ground and the window is broken with glass tinkling to the floor. (OOC: Lial is currently Hurt but is bleeding badly, if not treated he will quickly turn bloodied, then unconcious and dead. If the enemy had gotten 1 point higher you would have jumped to bloodied and lost the use of your leg entirely so be happy lol).

To the West Juan and Aviur start interrogating the guard, Aviur very happily and Juan very unhappily and appologetically, mostly he just keeps an eye out for new guards. This is why he sees Lan approaching and they quickly start exchanging information. Meanwhile Aviur manages to intimidate the guard after he tries his bonds and finds that even with his pewter that he is feeling his wounds and can't break them. "Fine, they just hired me this week anyway. what do you want to know?"

To the North Both Karl and Squirrel prepare to face the second man as the man Squirrel impacted is still not on his feet. Seeing his two enemies prepared to face him he is immediatly intimidated by Karls increasing size and musculature and turns to squirrel but seeing her prepared state he does not attack and rather jumps backwards about 2 metres which is clearly further and more controled than a normal human can manage. At this point the first man starts to get up, clutching his right side and swearing loudly. (OOC: Currently Karl and Squirrel are about 3 metres apart and the first man 3 metres from each, so they form an equalateral triangle, the second man is now 6 metres away from both closer to the wall.)

To the West Aviur and Juan come back to the tied up man who is unconcious. However, some 'encouragement' in the form of slapping brings him mostly around to a state capable of answering questions. Also the fire is beginning to burn down - a downside of a big hot burning fire is that it goes through alot of wood quickly, the embers however will burn for many hours once it reduces, these will also be blown by the wind and greatly increase chance of fire spread. Lan arrives at the tree line and heads South toward the fire, he is pretty close to Aviur and Juan.

Inside the room Lial grabs the guards weaponry and rushes the door, taking a shot at the guard outside, connecting with the mans arm. He doesn't waste time checking on the guard but slams the door and JUST has time to shove the large leather chair in front of it. He did notice new noise outside possibly indicating more guards.

To the North Karl activates tin to increase his senses and draws on his strength which is probably a good thing since right after he does the lead man raises his hand and a small object flys towards him at very high speed. Karl dogdes but takes a tiny scratch on his arm. He doesn't however manage to dodge when the object suddenly reverses direction and slashes back over his right arm cutting deeply. His senses tell him that its what looks like a large coin with sharpened edges. At the moment the coin slashes Karl, Squirrel finishes her dodging over braches and launches down towards the lead man. She is burning metal and sees that both men carry metal in small pouches and there are several coins over near the wall. She does manage to impact on the mans back and knocks him away and to the ground but he does not seem badly injured. the rear man moves forward and starts holding up what looks like a thick round wooden buckler about the size of a dinner plate.

To the North Karl helpfully sends the others on ahead as he heads to try and help squirrel, who nicely entirely ignores everything and boosts off her coin over to the nearest large tree to climb up it and hide. Unfortunatly for Karl she is alot faster than him and as she boosts into the trees he is left jogging after her. This would normally not be an issue however the man from the window is pretty persistant and comes flying out on a higher tragectory. just as he passes the wall however he suddenly jerks lower and flys toward the ground where Karl sees him dropping somthing and he seems to hover for a moment as a second man flys up towards him and they both land on Karl's side of the wall rather proffesionally and start sprinting Karls way, shouting for the guards who were heading east, they now turn back and come running Karls way too. Lin and Tan keep running west as fast as they can.

To the West Juan and Aviur approach the last man left alive. WHo is writhing in pain, With one look aviur sees alot of very deep red blood on him. It seems it wasnt his right kidney that was hit, it was the lower area of his liver and with her basic knowledge Aviur knows the man is doomed, and very soon. They wont be getting any information out of him as he passes out.

Inside the building Lial shouts but the man isn't moving. He takes  shot at him but just hits the door-post, this spurns the man into action "He's in here! The mans in the Study!" and he ducks further behind the wall. He also notices that his pistol is out of bullets.

Yeh I use firefox and have it auto save whatever tabs etc. I'm using so I just open forefox, restord last session and it opens everything and loads the pages for me. when part of RPs I can have 8 or 9 tabs and they all open for me hehe

To the East of the compound Karl suggests they hide in the bushes and prepare to take out the guards but Lan has other ideas "just move fast and we will be in the trees before they otice us, they will be too distracted by where we dragged the bodies!" he then proceeds to run in a crouch North and indeed the three of them make Northern side of the compound without incident. (OOC about 100 feet from the Northern wall on the east end lying in a small bush watching the patrol jog East to see what the shouting is about.) Karl sees somthing come flying out of the house, also a man appear behind her in the window she just left

To the west Aviur shouts out a warning at exactly the sametime as the archer spins out from behing a tree with a loaded arrow, however, Juan fires his pistol first, missing by the tinyest of margins. The archer flinches and misses by a significant distance. He tries to leap back stylishly behind the tree but missjudges bacdly and his stumble means Juan gets a second shot which hits him in the flank (upper kidney area.) Juan and aviur now hear only silence apart from the mans moans of pain which are significant. Aviur meanwhile has pushed the arrowhead clean through and managed to remove the shaft, which caused alot of pain even with the pewter, she checks the wound for splinters before grabbing a guards sash and tying the would off nicely. Mirraculously it does not appear to be bleeding currently.

Inside the room on the ground floor Lial boots the corner of the table at the guard, who instead of dodging it shield bashes it to the side with two hands. This means Lials plan of hooting him as he dodges fails badly, luckily though the man is still only 3 feet away and his shield is to the side so Lial has no issue at all putting a bullet clean into his chest. the other upside of the situation is that the table has fallen on its side so provides even better cover and Lial does not need to dodge anywhere. The other guard outside does not seem to be do anything but waiting and calling for others. While Lials soothing has some effect, he mostly notices that the man is a coward and fear is overrulling other emotions.

Upstairs Squirrel slams the door shut and goes for the lock only to see it hanging uselessly off a splintered piece of wood, it seems it was locked when she smashed it open, she tries to open the window but it seems to be fixed shut and she even gives herself a small cut on her hand trying to open it. FInally she leans against the other wall and steel pushes the middle strut and forces it open before leaping outside and blasting off the window frams out North. Sadly she has wasted too much time and with her steel acive from the jump sees a small piece of metal fly past her at very high speed. (OOC: currently not too far from Karl, who did see her coming)

In the forest to the West Aviur rolls smoothly and acrobatically behind a tree into cover and checks her wound. She sees the arrow has gone cleanly into the flesh of her calf muscle, the tip appears to be right beside the skin on the other side of the leg from the entry wound unfortunatly its bleeding reasonable amount and is painful, very painful. Aviur automatically puts on her pewter to dull the pain to allow her to keep functional.

Juan at exactly the same time says many things like 'Fudge' and 'shoot' while turning his gold on, very quickly and easily fixing his bloody nose. He doesn't see anything while jogging but once he gets close to the clearing he notices a movement to his right behind some trees. He also sees alot of bodies and no sign of Aviur.

Inside the building Lial manages to lock the door and dive behind the table at the same time as the guards put their shoulders to the doors and smash them both open (note on the map its a double door so room for 2 ppl to enter at once) he opens fire on them with a pistol in each hand. He fires off 3 shots from each gun hitting the two front runners a total of 3 times (He missed due to these guns being large and him not having any specific gun skills, mainly he just rolled lowish.) Luckily the 3 shots land roughly centre mass and they both fall to the floor. The next man inside however comes in firing and clips Lial in the left arm. A flesh-wound but he looses his gun which goes sliding across the room and against the wall. He sees a 4th man outside using the door-frame as cover, the one who came in shooting sees the gun fly away and tries to rush lial to tackle him (OOC: he is currently a couple of feet away).

Upstairs Squirrel flicks through the books and puts the 3 which match the description best into her satchel, fitting it to bursting SHe reaches in and grabs a few of the satchels. She then flairs her steel and blasts out the door into the room across from her. Unfortunatly at the moment she tries to boost through the door several bits of metal are blasted into her room forcing her to dodge slightly as she launches to avoid being hit throwing off her aim and meaning she blasts right through the door of the bathroom oposite her, barely stopping herself off the window frame she was about to hit very very hard, she hears more movement and shouting along the corridor she just blasted past at speed. she is standing right beside the toilet window.

Outside Karl and Lan quickly drag the bodies into the bushes and snuff the tourches out, right after they do this the guards turn the corner and see no sign of the steathly duo, sadly they do also notice there where there is supposed to be two guards marching along with torches there is only darkness. There is an immediate shout of alarm and they come running up the wall towards the pair concealed with Tan moving North to circle around to the west side of the compund.

Lial in inside the mansion ground floor on the West side trying to get inside the study, he starts trying to fit keys when shouts start right beside him and he realises that the guards are now after him, and they are very close. He does however manage to match the key to the lock and get inside, slamming the door behind him but there is alreay banging on the outside.

Upstairs Squirrel grabs the small pile of books without checking what they are (due to having no time to go through them carefully, this makes her slightly encumbered but she can easliy drop them for combat) She blasts out a steel push while standing against the safe to cause all the metal around her to move away, theoretically firing any loose metal between her and the unknown noise towards the noise and its cause. She sees the affect work and can see the lines of many small metal object radiating out at speed untill the metal near the window seems to stop and she feels extra force pushing her into the safe for a few moments before it it just as suddenly released. She does hear a muffled noise as it happens but is unable to make out what it was, after the flying metal hits the floor she is unable to hear any more movement from the room.

To the East Lan turns to Karl, "There seem to be alot of windows on the ground floor which we could use for entry but this side of the compound is crawling with men. The only chance I see is from the West side." Around this time Karl manages to notice new light turning the corner, it also occurs to him that they are standing near the bodies of the two unconcious guards and didnt put the torches out so they are very very visible.

To the West Juan squeals with glee as he merrily runs in a loop back South towards where he left aviur. Sadly in his glee he does indeed trip on an exposed root and bash his nose into a tree. Not a serious injury but very embarrasing, there is no sign of the archer though.

Aviur scans the surroundings and seeing nothing she takes the mans sword and searches the rest of the normal soldiers before killing them. Her cursory search turns up nothing of interest and the hacking of survivors to death is pretty hasty causing a section of the sword to loose its edge badly when it hit some laqured wood. She then returns to the metal wearing guard and ties him up, resting him against a tree with a gag in place when a nice shiney shaft of wood appears in her right calf. She realises awfully quickly that it is indeed an arrow that has lodged itself there.

To the East, Karl drops the man and walks over to Lan who is struggling to see clearly over the wall due to his age and the walls height, Karl helps him and gets a hurried report. "Theres alot of them right over the wall, lots of torches and a mix of hazekillers and men in armour there. Far too many for us to try and take on alone, I could try and catch one in a bubble through the wall but I have no idea what help that would be."

To the West Juan remembers that he thought a  second man was after him and listens carefully to his surroundings, which is lucky because he quickly realises that someone is sneaking up fom behind him. He manages to locate and get a shot off at the man at quite close range which takes him in the thigh which guarantees he is out of the fight (so long as he isnt a gold feru) His shot gives away his position to the archer who again fires a shot but Juan is too fast for him and is already sprinting Nearly due north, parallel with the wall.

Aviur on the other hand is facing a bit more trouble, she tries to make the man stumble to give her some space but he easily counters her attacks and stays perfectly in form, it is becoming clear that he is not only a pewter arm but is well trained with his sword. Aviur does however manage to get some space and charges the man flashing her staff at his feet which he almost smugly side-steps and raises his sword for a counter strike. Luckily for Aviur this was a feintand she connects solidly with her knee directly to his face knocking him in a half backflip to land unconcious in front of her.

Inside on the ground floor Lial continuously burns his metals to try and keep the guards in the corridor with his dissorientated. He realises quite quickly that this isnt going to work for long at all and the guards are recovering. He does however reach the entrance to the study which has a very basic wooden door, sadly its locked.

Upstairs Squirrel blasts off the floored guards head/back to the slightly opened safe. She opens it the rest of the way and looks inside. She sees several small bags some documents and a small pile of books, she has no time to examine the books before hearing some cracking noise from the bedroom she entered from.

This is the thread, which after I take a Break from being a GM, Will become my Forward Unto Dawn game.

The premise is based off the halo universe and uses their feature movie series as an idea template. The basic story for non-Halo fans is that in the relatively near furture mankind has managed to spread to the stars and is forming colonies on the nearest habitable worlds and moons. Their tech is much more advanced but recognisable, they still use various guns (just better than we have today) and grenades etc. however there are more advanced weapons too, including large lazer weaponry and gauss cannons but these are expensive and as many know the millitary goes for good and cheap in bulk so these highly advanced weapons are rare.

You are a squad in a military training facility who are getting well into their final year. You are being trained to fight insurgents on the outermost planets who decided they wanted to leave the central earth control and turned to terrorism to get their way.

This is roughly when the unthinkable happens and when the story begins. A very short time ago a confirmed alien race was discovered and they near totally anihilated several small outer colonies. Then they hit a bigger facility with a military outpost just days ago and within hours left only glassed rubble. Basic intel on all the confirmed attackers has been spread through the UNSC databases however not enough is known about them or their technology yet, and the alarms are going off in your base at 3am.

In the West forest Juan looks out in time to see the archer with a loaded arrow scanning the bush he is in. He takes aim and fires before the archer notices his exact position but his shot only skims the archers leg and the archer falls behind a tree. Juan sees some blood but is pretty sure that the man isnt out of the fight yet. He cannot see the other guard that he was sure was following him.

Aviur moves in with some fast staff strikes against the armoured man, however the man deflects or defends all of the blows, Aviur quickly realises she is facing a pewter arm who is trained with a sword. She does however notice that his sword is denting slightly more than normal. She sees him smiling as he takes the offensive with short body thrusts.

To the east Karl shakes the man a bit as he warns him into silence, this seems partly uneccesary as the man is still clearly dazed and not overly sure of what is happening to him. On the plus side the intimidation is an automatic sucess as a result. Lan meanwhile tries to scale the wall to look over the top at whats going on in the grounds.

Inside the house Lial slides the keys into his cloak pocket as he fires off a round at the approaching armoured mans head, which he misses. a second shot however takes the man in the chest and the guard slumps to the ground. Lial tries to quickly sneak to the west side of the house but he notices that the guards he is currently passing in the corridor are recovering very quickly from his mental attack.

On the second floor Squirrel goes for a rather accrobatic attack on the guards who just burst into the room. She dives forward with a boost off the safe and lands on the guards back before releasing a strong push against the second mans gun. The push is extrodinarily sucesful and she surprises herself with her own strength as the mans gun smashes full up into his face and knocks him out cold with a very broken nose, the push also forces her weight onto the man below her knocking him head into the floor hard, he will be dazed for a moment or two. (Finally someone crit again, its been like 6 turns or so since a crit)

OOC: Just cos I want to do everything in a different order today I reversed it..

Inside the room Squirrel keeps her steel going to push on the door but she hasn't braced herself so she can't push very hard, on the other hand she judges the size of they keys very well and is just wrenching the door to the safe open when the door to the corridor bursts open and a very off balance guard tumbles in and to the floor, there is one guard still standing behind him, both are dressed as hazekillers however the one still standing is holding a pistol.

Lials affect on the men holds as he grabs the gun and shoots the obligator, he i searching the dead man for keys, and JUST gets his hand on them when shouts erupt from the corridor to the west and a guard wearing metal is visible running towards the room Lial is in. the other guards in the corridor are still confused.

Karls speed and strength allow him clean punches to both mens heads but their armour protects them slightly, one is out cold and the other seems to be VERY dazed  but still kind of concious, he is also drooling a little. Lan shakes himself before turning to Karl "Well I'm glad you saw my signal with my fingers! now lets get some information out of this one before we are noticed."

In the trees to the West, Juan jumps headfirst into a bush and burns gold while trying to fix his gun. The gold begins working instantly to slow the bleeding and start to close the wound but it will take a little time to heal completly (1-2 more turns without a flair.) He also suceeds in fixing his gun and is just getting it reloaded when an arrow hits the ground near his leg, it seems he didnt shake off the archer yet.

Aviur JUST dodges a strike from the staff user, however as it flys past her face she grabs the end, spins around using her body against the middle of the staff and easily forcing it out of the mans hand. This also meant she was now spinning with a solid staff in hand which very neatly sends its previous owner flying into an unconcious/dead heap in a nearby bush (OOC: somce very nice rolls by Aviur there). Aviur is left nicely poised as the metal wearing man gets to his feet and takes a careful swordsman stance.

To the east Karl is fully prepared as the blur shimmers for a millisecond and vanishes, his tin lets him know the EXACT second it goes and the guards are about to speed up.

To the West Juan makes his quips as he runs and realises that his wound is a bleeder but he could easily heal it with normal burning of gold, just if he doesnt he is gonna be in trouble soon. A second arrow flashes past him into a tree missing by at least a good few inches. He can still hear someone coming after him fast.

Aviur moves in close and goes for the legs, sweeping the armoured mans leg clean out, the man reacts FAST and manages a light slash at Aviurs head as he falls, she manges to dodge but takes a small cut to her shoulder (OOC: not enough to slow her down, just a scratch.) the other man closes but not fast enough to attack. Aviur is now facing the two men, armoured down on his back and the other standing with staff ready to attack.

Inside Squirrel springs to her feet and with a burst of steel-running blasts into the room to find it empty. behind her she hears men shouting in the corridor outside the Study.

Downstairs Lial goes all out Flair burn on both metals and attempts to turn the men on eachother. The flairs works and he controls it well to affect most of the ground floor, just not completly to the West wall. His burns sooth away pretty much ALL emotion leaving only trace nice feelings towards him although they had little of that to begin, his other burn them makes them feel like he is their bestest buddy ever with added bro-mance. One of the guards behind him simply clutches his head then faints. The Obligator seems to know somthing is wrong before pandemonium takes over, the guards at the windows had guns which one promtly uses on the guard behind Lial taking him out with a shot to the chest. The other window guard, and the obligator are left screaming at eachother when two more guards burst from siderooms into the corridor outside the room.

In the Western woods many things happen at once.

Aviur tries to signal Juan to stay in cover which he doesn't see cos he is busy thinking and mumbling, she then throws her burning branch left and begins burning pewter and sprinting right. At this moment Juan tries to tell HER to stay hidden and spins out left taking two quick shots at the nearest men.

The enemies are spread out, Aviur sees only 1 to her right with one straight ahead and one close to the left, the others are further off left near Juan. Juan sees one straight ahead, 1 left, one close right and the others to the right near Aviur.

Juan's bullets land first, just as the men react, taking one man clean in the thigh and making him ragdoll to the ground. The second missfires, jamming the pistol. It will need fully reloaded and cocked before firing again. Aviur goes for the man right in front of her with pewter enhanced speed and agility and thumps him right in the chest. The little blast of heat works well and doesnt backfire but it doesnt matter much as the man does a backflip from her punch before landing out cold.

Juan has begun sprinting away shouting "Bitches" and he has two very insulted men in pursuit. One fires an arrow at him which leaves a gash on his side, just a deep flesh wound but it needs bound soonish. Aviur has men directly either side of her, one closing in fast with a staff on her right, and one in metal with a sword to her left.

Inside, the Obligator sits Lial in the comfy chair, the two guards take up spots behind him and to either side. "So tell me again who you are and why you appear unnanouced at our gates at this late hour." He again has a creepy smile on his face, Lial is beginning to suspect that that man may just be very creepy in a bald kind of way. Suddenly there is a crash from nearly right above them and everyone looks at the ceiling where a thump follows immediatly after the crash.

To the east the guards get close, in a few seconds their torchlight will completly reveal Karl and they are Just passing in front of Lan when he looses patience and panics running out in front of them and burning. Karl with his tin sees the sudden blur then sees two confused guards seem to freeze in place weapons half lifted with Lan a few feet away from them also seemingly frozen his hand is up with 3 fingers in the air. Tan swears audibly from inside the bush.

Squirrel looks down in time to see one of the suits taking out a coin and gets the immediate impression that they are dangerous mistlings, they are also already focused on the roof. Squirrel goes for a super awsome roll, swing, boost, take-down move on the guard in the window below her. To an outside observer it would be hard to tell if she failed horribly or suceeded. She swings down but looses her grip last second so that when she hits the window she isn't feet first, she is ass and side first, She frantically pushes on the frame and gutter with her steel which she does spectacularly boosting her at high speed right into the guards chest and head... Ass first and landing in a heap on top of him. Sadly this... unorthadox move takes its toll on her leaving her bruised but luckily has knocked the guard clean out. This made alot of noise... As she stands she suddenly sees a man in a suit fly up to the roof past the window where she had been a second go.

Karl is burning Tin and hears most of what happened to Squirrel, he also hears guards shouting "The roof! they're on the roof!"

Aviur and Juan both smoothly duck behind trees (Aviur holding a burning brand) and both signal eachother to hide before realising it and resuming getting prepared, Juan with his pistol ready and Aviur with her brand cluched like a bat. they start hearing more noises.

"It's here, hey this looks staged, everyone spread out!" they hear the noise from multiple people moving  and they can both work out that they are now being approached by multiple enimies in a line spred over about 20 feet. Both know they are in the path of the line.

The obligator turns back to Lial. "We will be completly safe here don't worry. Now I do still have some questions for you, follow me please." Lial is lead into the main building ground floor then to the right, they reach a large room with a dining table to the right and comfy chairs to the left, the obligator indicates the comfortable chairs, smiling again. Visible there are 2 guards already in the large room, 1 at the east window and 1 at the south window they do not have any visible metal. They are concentrating hard looking out the windows. the two original guards are 2 and 4 feet behind him respectively.

Tan also smoothly gets into position using the darkness and whatever cover he can to stay hidden, he percieves that the guards are returning their way, Lan also sees this since they are carrying torches. (OOC: They should be close next turn.)

Squirrel stays put and tries to listen to whats going on inside the window but finds she can't really make anything out. She does however hear commotion from directly below. On the grounds and the bushes she was just in. She sees its a simple latch window that shouldnt test her skills to open, the window is metal framed and metal hatchings around the panes of glass. she can't see the man without fully hanging down in front of the window again

On the East Karl gets close to the wall, its too high for him to see over without a big jump or little bit of climbing but his tin is indeed letting him hear some of the voices on the other side. Again most of it is useless but he does catch snatches of guards speach. "Thats the second alarm..." "mistling to the" "The Suits are on the east back them up!".

Adding the info together he surmises that the alarm was triggered by a misling to the east of the house and someone called 'The suits' are now on the east of the house with guards supporting them.

Lan gets prepared in the bushes for the guards when they come back, he has decided that taking them out will be the best plan for not being spotted as well as for information. he whispers so that only Karl will hear him. "Once the guards return I'm going to trap them into a slow bubble, if you get into position you can knock them out." Tan stays lying down smoking the area (Karl and Tan will be covered)

Squirrel quickly looks around the compound before her burn wears off, she sees metal moving along the walls in twos, inside and outside. below her she sees a small source of metal, like keys or a coin pouch. The house is PACKED with metal sources so she can't differentiate anything through that, apart from that the weather vane is metal along with most of the roof nails and window frames. She uses her agility to look into the window by dangling down and gets a brief glimps inside before coming very close to over balancing and has to pull herself back up. Her look inside saw 1 man near the window, currently srapping on a wooden buckler.

On the West Juan turns back and heads towards Aviur as she continues with the fires when they both start hearing noise coming from the East they are still 10 feet apart, nothing is yet visible (OOC: I paused you right as you both hear the noise)

Lial follows the Obligator into the front door (the sticky out bit with nice wooden doors clearly visible in the picture). They have just entered.

2 minutes left of dusk before full night begins.

Over all, dust is beginning to set in, reducing visibility for everyone.

On the west side the fires are going very well and still producing alot of grey/black smoke, Aviur and Juan are about 15-20 feet apart and having a good time with their banter.

On the west Tan is still smoking away with Lan and Karl beside him in the bushes, Karl is burning Tin and tracking the guards. He can now easily hear them chatting about irrelevant things like food and women and the cold but currently they are still walking further away from the group in the bushes meaning he would have to chase after them to catch one. On the other hand his path to the wall is now clear for a minute or so before the guards make their return pass.

Inside the compound squirrel does her superman impression and boosts off a coin onto the roof before creeping to right above the window of the room adjacent to her target Study/Office.

At exactly the same time Lial protests his innocence WITHOUT the use of allomancy. The creepy smile on the Obligators face stays in place and he is now clearly giving the impression of not believing Lial... Untill the ringing noise suddenly changes pitch and tone and his head snaps towards the interior eastern grounds "Go!" The two men in suits suddenly ignore Lial and rush towards the eastern grounds. The obligator finally returns his attention to Lial "It appears things may be more complicated than I had assumed, if you follow me inside we may talk within. You'll have to excuse the guards however, as it does appear we may be under attack and we must now go to full allert." He begins quickly leading Lial inside with the two guards following.

The guard patterns on the East and North are visible to Squirrel, the Southern ones to Lial and they now change. Lights are lit in windows and the guards start moving quicker. a new squad of 5 (same as before, 4 wearing leather and wood and carrying wooden weapons including bows and staffs. One wearing metal armour with metal topped spear, shield and sword) come out of the house and start patrolling the house in an anticlockwise direction.

The group the the east of the compound move forward to the small bushes near the walls, they do this without being noticed and somehow manage to cram themselves into a fairly well disguised position. Karl makes his move to reach the wall... at a very bad time, the guard patrol nearly sees him and he is forced to dive back into the bushes to avoid giving the game away. They are all however safe for now as the guards strole past with newly lit torches (since dusk is setting in). Lan lets out a slow mumble of complaint about an elderly man of his intilect having to hide in a bush late at night.

Aviur sets two more small fires and gets them going with burning wood from the original fire which is very easy to do, the moss also seems to be a little damp but due to the heat from the fire it all goes up with a whoosh making a fairly big plume of grey/black smoke, this should convince ppl that the fire is much bigger than the reality. Juan has his pistol at the ready and cockes so simply warms his hands by the fire while he waits for Aviur to finish.

Inside the compound a slight ringing can be heard and a cry of "Fire to the West, still well clear of the walls." the obligator looks up away from Lial long enough to see a team of 5 men jogging out of the house wearing leather armour and carrying only wooden weapons, apart from the leader who is in metal gear. They pause to say "Heading out to check the fire." before jogging towards the gate. The obligator turns his slightly creepy smile back onto Lial still waiting for a reply to his accusations. The guards around Lial still stand ready.

Squirrels actions within the compound could have had several reprocussions however she sees it working perfectly, her coin hits the other bush with enough force to snap a branch off and send a crow squaking into the air. This distracts the guard who curses himself thinkiing it was the crow all along before starting his rounds again with his partner. Her position is now un-watched.

Guard patterns seems to have changed once the ringing noise was heard (all crew members should hear it, Aviur and Jaun both JUST ABOUT made it out with sucessful rolls) the guards seem to be moving faster and all have torches lit now.

Jaun and Aviur get prepared, the moss goes up in a large plume of gray smoke which will be visible for some distance. The further construction of the fire however does not go so smoothly, lacking enough wood to make it truely visible they are currently stuck with it as a simply large fire with alot of smoke.

Karl shrinks back down to normal size leaving him, Lan and Tan (still smoking) in the trees. They look up just in time to see Squirrel vanishing over the wall using remarkable agility.  Sadly on the other side the guards are getting very close and she is forced to use a burst of steel running to try and avoid them... which she is not totally sucessful in. She is currently in bushes at the base of the house and the guards that saw 'Somthing' are searching the area, luckily her steel running was JUST enough to conseal exactly where she went. She can hear them speaking "I know I saw somthing moving fast around here, keep and eye out while I search." "Sure just be careful and shout the second you find anything."


Lial hears the clap and sees the smoke appearing at the same time as the obligator who gives a little smile. "I guess that must be your colleagues, was that the signal to begin your plans now that you are inside the compound?" The guards who had been standing idly by before now slide efficiently to surround himthe two behind him wear the same metal armour as the other gate guards, the two in front are wearing suits and not carrying any obvious weapons. The Obligator stays right in front of him smilling.

Once dusk hits, Karl instantly drains the strength that he has just stored for the past 5 or so minutes, and claps his hands togheter, creating a rather loud noise, signaling the fact that the fire needs to flare and become visible, and that the operation starts.

Which suceeds, but not in making the loud deep noice that only aliies would notice, instead he makes a loud clap that is very noticable everywhere in the compound.

OOC: Yes most of this is a repost, but since no-one is really doing anything yet there isn't much else for me to write.

Everyone is still in position, Karl, Squirrel, Lan and Tan are on the EASTERN edges of the trees with Tan smoking the area with Karl preparing his minds for action.

Aviur moved deeper into the forest and has set the 1st fire, which she EASILY suceeded in, getting a good, mostly smokeless, blaze built up to the size of a campfire in under a minute. Juan Has joined her meaning the two of them are the last members of the crew on the west of the walls.

The obligator gives him a smile and waves his hand. Near instantly a boy dressed like a servant appears, running over to grab the reigns of Lials horse.

The obligator waits the few seconds for the boy to get close before continuing "Well sir, what brings you to our residence this late evening?" as he does so he gestures towards the house and begins slowly walking back, assuming Lial will follow "I'm afraid since I was not at the gate you will have to introduce youself again." (OOC: you can ust put what you did before if you dont remember the name lol)

Dusk Has just begun. 10 mins till night (The signal is now overdue)

There has been no change in patrol patterns visible since Squirrel has reported in.

OOC: I will NOT be leaving your powers on, They'll be used for what you ask then immediatly turned off unles you state that you want them left on.
