"No need." Jacob replies before Samuel can walk off. "We got a bunch of the chems in the 'Queen's' cargo bay. With a bunch of C4 grenades i cooked up." He says with a smile. "I was thinking of testing one later, care to join?"

"Oh, and i'll fly the queen over there myself."

"What guy doesn't like explosions?" Sam promptly stops his exit and gives Jacob a mischievous grin. "But we're gonna need more than just chems and explosions if we're to believe Gandalf over there." He sticks a thumb out at Cillian. "Im gonna grab the rest of my gear and I'll be back." He then continues his exit to grab his gear, meet the Captain, and head back to the hangar.

Thanks. Though I live in Canada, so I'd likely be going out of Toronto.

That's pretty cool that he works for Capcom.

Yeah he does localisation for them. It's a pretty cool gig.

Even so, hell be able to give me some pretty good numbers. I've got a few friends out there that do urban exploration too.

Check out abandonedkensai.com

Edit:http://abandonedkansai.com/

That's my friend Florian's urban exploration blog. Really worth the check out if you're planning on visiting there, the guy knows Japan like the back of his hand

Washing his latest smoke Sam addresses the crew in docking bay: "I'm gonna go met the captain and get a first hand look at whatever damage maybe done. If we're heading out I'd suggest everyone go grab their stuff out of their cabins, we could be in this mess for awhile."

He puffs, exhaled, and exits the hangar.

"Lets... Never do that again." Samuel says removing his helmet and stepping out of the freighter.

"Though I have to admit, it was quite a ride. Almost can't believe we pulled that off. Good stuff everyone."

He reaches back into the cockpit of the freighter and pulls out his box of Smokes, and promptly lights one up.

"Um. . . This is Cillian?  Sorry, but. . . please be careful.  Something. . . I think something terrible happened. . ."

"Yeah, We're missing an entire engine. That's pretty terrible, we're gonna have to get this boat on the ground..." His voice trails off as he realizes that there is more in Cillian's voice, fear?

He's not referring to the engines...

"Captain, this is futile, these engines are done for, our only hope is to successfully touch down and get these rigged up." Sam's voice calmly broadcasts over the comms.

"Butch, how are things in the Raven? I can meet you there after repairs if you need a hand, we shouldn't be much longer patching this breach."

"Shit! What, hit us? Get me on the coms, I'll head down and start repairing the engines. I'll hail the bridge when I get there!"

Samuel and his exceptional fabricate skills make way first to his cabin to grab his construction tools and anything he may need, and then rushes to the engines to get them online and repair any damage he may see.

Edit: on his way out the door he straps on his sword and pistol, puts his skin suit on, helmet, grab boots and straps his riot shield to his back just in case...

Standing up Samuel addresses Gilbert.

"With that storm? Just launching one of my cargo containers could be extremely stupid. For one they can't guide themselves. Two, it could end up on the other side of the planet! Three, I'd like to have my container back ya know..."

Looking at Montoya now: "I've only got a 2 seater boss. A pilot and a passenger, well I guess I could fit two of us in the sleeping cabin, though it's not ideal. 2 preferred, 4 tops."

Samuel looks at Crystal as she enters the room.

"Yeah, apparently they found some message in the static, something about a way out? We haven't figured out what it means yet."

*puffs cigarette*

"I figure it's just some scrambled surface broadcast being thrown about by this storm, but I've been wrong as many times as I've been right"

He shrugs and returns to his smoke.

Samuel laughs at Inigo's flourish and shakes his head.

After taking a puff of his cigarette and ashing it he speaks: "Maybe with all the interference we seem to be having we're just p[icking up some surface communications, maybe people trying to escape the storm? Who knows though to be honest."

He goes back to his cigarette and takes the nearest seat to wait for the crew to chime in and to get rolling on this delivery.

Having just finished up doing his third double check of the cargo fasteners and preflight checks of his freighter, Samuel finds the crew of the Dandy Desperado huddled around each other around a computer terminal obviously enthralled with something. Hopefully good news about their mission...

"Alright the Raven is all set, what have you guys found out about the storm so far?

Samuel remarks to the crew, cigarette casually bobbing with his lips as he speaks.

That sounds like a great idea. At least way better then saying "You do double damage to surprised enemies" and then giving them the smoke bomb ability to duck out of combat and try again if they don't die.

Oh my god, the drunken master is so glorious!... Have any of them ever actually wielded small children, or is that just an example?

I had drunken master set up for Keitaro in Mythic Nippon, if im not mistaken I convinced fed BZ to add this into his files, I likewise agree that it is indeed a wonderful addition to the BHB lineup as it is wildly unique and fun as check to play :)

1) sorry to hear, aeon.

2) wow that's cool forge, thanks!

Thanks, Seth, appreciate the concern, after the last 2 years of medical problems tbh? The Parkinson's diagnoses is the least of my concerns. I had a cancerous tumor removed from my stomach in Sept. And spent almost 2 months of treatment for that. Luckily I'm bald, but my beard started falling out in places. It's grown back in rather nicely though. So I'm cool with that.

Hard as feck to take us LeValley boys out.

No one should have to find that out. Hope the treatment for it helps though.

I go back Monday to figure out my treatment regimen and plan. Main concern is the seizures being controlled. I can live with the shakes for now.

And @Drak, I've got 3 titanium pins and a metal cap in my knee (you may remember my posts about my knee way back in cys years ago) and I've had several MRIs and the like on it.

Media & Mayhem / Re: So, I might be dying

Successfully didn't die in the giant magnet. XD

It was like an EDM club that you can't leave.

& then they slid the table out & I'm like "okay bye" & they're like "no we just have to put the IV in."

With the 950 times they had to ask "are you absolutely sure you don't have any metal shards inside your body?  Really?  What about your eyes? Any metal in there?"  They kinda forgot to mention the IV. >_<

(Forge/ anyone: why so specific about the eyes? Do people tend to forget about the time they had metal shards removed from their eyes?)

I went through this today sadly. Found out it's a positive for Parkinson's disease.

I kinda felt that it was coming after years of seizures and tremors, and the blacking out and the migraines.

I'm terrified, but glad to know what it is, and now we can treat it till I go all Michael J Foxx and whatnot.

Ugh.

@The Game Comment; Assassin in the palace was like a mafia style game right? I could be wrong its been a year or two since ive played one

Background
The fringes of space, where whispers of civilization falter and fade. The dark places, where shadows fear to tread, here is where you can find us. Here is where we call home. We are the scavengers of this solar system, the reapers of mankind's need to discard for the bigger better now. And in doing so, we have forged bonds no weapon can break, we have reclaimed the history of our species, and my story in particular is no different. But don't worry, we may live in the outer reaches, and probably you've never even heard of us, unless you had good reason to. We are a merry band of people, who really just enjoy being in each others company. We maybe Fiercely loyal to a fault, but we don't go around looking for fights, normally that is.

My name is Samuel, like my father before me. As a boy he taught me to judge an item's, or a person's, worth in the blink of an eye. I learned the silence of a blade, and the roaring thunder of a bomb. I learned that family comes before the mission, but often times the two collide in the same path to victory. For our lives were salvaging, and if you didn't have your family, well, you weren't gonna make it on your own. In my teens, at the yearly gathering of all of us "Junkers", it was decided to contact the Ceres Pirates and set up a deal that would allow us to "settle down". I was wary of this whole ordeal, as was my mother, and 2 sisters (Lanara and Fey). But my father was convinced that this was the right move. It was a move that cost him his life, and the vision in my left eye.

Now an adult me and my father were on a scavenging mission. My father came across a data drive and apparently it contained some pretty good stuff too, because in his excitement he failed to notice we were being trailed by a band of Pirates. They crippled our craft and boarded us. As junkers, (I hate that name) we defend what is ours to the death, this would be no exception. So as the Captain of the pirates demanded our haul including the drive, my father pulled our family's treasured blade, hit the ignition on the hilt which wreathed the sword in flames, and lunged for the captain. I grabbed the closest blade i could find and managed to take out two of the guards in a surprised panicked.

The enemy captain was badly wounded but managed to pull his pistol and riddled my father with holes. In a mad fury i rushed to catch him as his lifeless body crashed to the deck. holding my fathers head in my hands I looked up at the captain in time to see the but of his gun crash into my eye socket, shattering it. I passed out not to wake up until days later, in my family's apartment. My mother explained they took everything except our bodies and my father's sword which must have been extinguished in the battle, for it lay beneath his body. She also explained that the doctor who saved my life told her I'd never see out of my eye again and it had to be removed and sewn shut. Several days later I decided to leave, not only to avenge my father and find his killer, but to find out what he gave his life for. I had to have that data drive! Before leaving My mother gave me my father's sword and cried into my chest. I held her for a moment and swore I'd return.

I made to Europa after leaving the Ceres gate behind. I wasn't really sure where I was going to be honest but anywhere was better than nowhere. As I was packing to leave on a shuttle, I was approached by a Captain Montoya who insisted I join his crew, mentioned something about rooting out a secret society. Somehow this all linked to my father's death and that damned data drive... Funny how I mentioned that family and the mission often crash together didn't I?...

Edge & Power Notes
Evasion
The character has superior agility and grace when dodging attacks. He can use the Full Defense Action (Defend + Defend) without spending Surge Points during combat. +2 Defense (Dodge).

Exceptional Item (Breath of Hell Sword); Accuracy +0; Damage 5+L♠ (Sets Target Ablaze on Extra Success or Crit)
A sturdy longsword with a mini-flamethrower attached to the blade that jets fire through channels, wreathing it in flame. The mini-Flamethrower can also be used as normal, simply by pointing (or sweeping) the sword and hitting a button.

Flawless Masterwork [1 Surge | Free Action | 1 Work]
The Character ties a Surge Point up in the creation of a Masterwork (not having access to it until after his work is complete). Whatever the character has created is effectively the best work it could ever be – garnishing the best level of response and appreciation from those that see it, given the circumstances of its creation and presentation. In addition, whatever it is will be worth at least double its normal value; and if a weapon, both its Accuracy and Damage are increased by +1; other Flawless Masterworks may or may not grant a +2 Bonus to their use as determined by the GM.

Information Broker
The character has a source available to buy and sell information.

Quick Draw
The character can draw a weapon and have it ready for use as a Free Action rather than the normal Move Action.

Surprise Strike
The character knows how to take advantage of off-guard opponents. He does +5 damage on a successful Close Quarter attack against a Flat Footed opponent. He may use Surprise Strike only once per target each round.

Rapid Strike
The character is lightning quick in close quarter combat. He can use back-to-back Attack Actions (Attack + Attack) when making Close Quarter attacks, without spending Surge Points during combat.

Salty Dog
The character is an old hand when it comes to ships and space travel, able to manually crew any sized ship all by himself, should the need ever arise.

Spacecraft, Freighter
The character owns a space freighter. A Freighter Spacecraft bought with this Edge can always be repaired or replaced if damaged, lost, stolen, or destroyed during the course of the game (though it can take a few months in some cases).

Spacer
The character is accustomed to space travel and suffers no Situational Modifiers for actions in Zero-G.

Underworld Ties
The character has contacts and limited influence in a major syndicate or other illegal organization.

Ship Edges_
Armed
The ship comes with a standard self-defense weapon package that includes: 20mmL police ship guns; Air-to-Air Missile (6) or Mini Missiles (6); and Chaff Defense (6).

Cargo Jettison
The ship can jettison or separate from its Cargo at the push of a button if necessary.  For Freighters, this simply means dropping one or more of its trailing cargo containers; while for other ships, it usually involves controlled explosive decompression of the cargo area itself, to suck everything out into space.  Depending where cargo is jettisoned, it may or may not be recoverable later, and could also pose an Obstacle Hazard to other ships.

Docking Clamps
The ship is equipped with docking clamps that allow it to lock onto another ship for ship-to-ship interaction through a retractable self-sealing airlock.  Typically, it is used in conjunction with other docking clamp-equipped ships, but can also be used alone (and often is by Pirates) simply by clamping to the hull, extending the self-sealing airlock, and welding a hole through the other guy’s ship.

Locking onto an unwilling ship (unless Disabled) requires a successful MTN 10 Ramming attack that causes damage as normal.  Once a ship is clamped on, there is no shaking it until the clamps are released.  This can be accomplished by physically gaining access to the controls, hacking them through the Net with a Universal R/C Link, or attacking the clamps directly as the Pirates are trying to weld through the hull.

Fly-by-Wire
Instead of a ship’s computer, the ship is controlled by superior mechanical engineering. This means the ship can’t be hacked or remote controlled.

Obstacle Avoidance Computer
The Obstacle Avoidance Computer is an advanced kind of autopilot, smart enough to spot incoming collision threats and alter the ship’s course to avoid them.  Typically, it is used to get ships safely through hazardous space, such as the asteroid rings around Jupiter and Saturn.  By itself, the Obstacle Avoidance Computer is capable of making Pilot 11 rolls to avoid such hazards, including up to two Dodge Actions per round against incoming missiles and Ramming attempts by other ships.  If used in conjunction with the pilot’s own rolls, the Obstacle Avoidance Computer grants a +2 Bonus to all rolls used to avoid obstacles, missiles, and other collisions.

Flaws
Chain Smoker
The character has to have his cigarettes and everyone knows it, cause he’s never seen without one hanging from his lip. He must make a Willpower Save to resist any offers of a smoke; something an enemy might take advantage of. If denied smokes for more than an hour, the character suffers a –1 penalty to all die rolls until he gets some.

Distinctive Features
Something about the character’s physical appearance stands out, making him easily identifiable (whether extensive tattoos, a disfigurement, unique mode of dress, etc). Opponents get a +4 on Perception (Spot) rolls, when used to spot the character among a crowd or recognize him in disguise.

Impaired Vision
The character is blind in one eye, has no depth perception, is myopic, or suffers a lazy eye. -2 Ranged Skill and -3 Perception (Spot) rolls (already included).
