"By the way, Rai", Yuki begins, "Why did that turtle call you Go-Uda?"

that mage school you had up when i first joined CYS?
Heh heh heh, that was a goddamn train wreck. XD
Never before had Yuki been afforded such attention and a feeling of importance among the Occult Community as now - bringing information to them about Yunikawa's quest for the Book of Secrets.
The news was such that Yuki was immediately granted access to Grand Premier Kenji Nogachi, the Wu-Jen of Sendai and Advisor to the Daimyo.
"Remarkable," the Grand Premier said shaking his head, "astounding that he was even able to learn of its location at all."
"Recover the Book for Master Yunikawa of course," he went on, "but bring it here first, so that we can make a duplicate."
"The information contained in the Book of Secrets is too great to be entrusted to one man. And, as he uses the resources of Sendai in its recovery, it is only fitting that the Daimyo has a vested interest in it."
"There really is not any need Yuki. I am the most knowledgable of the occult in our little group, and if you have any questions, i can answer them for you after our talk with uncle Yunikawa.
"What did you see, Yuki?" Roka asks, curious.
Rai looks at Yuki and asks, "Can you see any thing with spirt sight?"
"Aww..." Kioko says, slightly deflating in her excitement - while the small spirit familiar on her shoulder just sighs heavily and rolls its eyes, as if in disgust...
"An adventure? Oh yes!" Kioko replies excitedly and the spirit familiar squeaks gleefully in response.
Yuki's Mother purses her lips however and gives a very concerned look.
"Yuki," she says, "if you do this, you have to promise me to look after your 'little sister' and see to it that she get's 'home'."
"Home? I get to go home?" Kioko interrupts, jumping up an down uncontrollably - "Oh I miss my mommy so much! I want to go home!"
"Uhm... yes, Kioko dear," Yuki's Mother replies, trying to calm the little girl down with a hand on her shoulder.
Then to Yuki, she continues, "The Wu-Jen Yunikawa can certainly show you how to get Kioko back 'home', but ..." and here she bends over to whisper in Yuki's ear - "He may try to take her as his own, for he can enslave spirits. You mustn't let that happen. You cannot leave Kioko with the Wu-Jen, for any reason - no matter what."
Then speaking again at a normal volume, Yuki's mother smiles and says "Promise me this Yuki."
Arriving at home, Yuki is met by her Mother (and Kioko of course).
"It's too bad about that fire," Yuki's Mother says, not going into any detail, due to the little fox girl's presence.
"Yeah, I heard there was a really bad fire!" Kiokoi says - the little luminous spirit familiar on Kioko's shoulder suddenly taking the shape of ghostly white flames - as if to help illustrate Kioko's words.
"Did you help put it out?" Kioko asks curiously - to which, the spirit familiar 'douses' itself and begins to steam - before popping back to normal and hopping up and down excitedly...
"Yuki?"
Udo points at him, "... You... you're speaking..."
Shaking his head, he then looks at Yuki, "You don't seem very, uh, sure of bringing Kioko with us. Why?"
Udo looks at Rai confused, "Why would the Oni get to her?" He shrugs, but puts his opinion on the matter, "I think we, uh, should- its a rare occurrence when one of the most knowledgeable wujens invites you, and its a good oppurtunity. Plus, I think we should bring Sakura's odd spirit thing, it seemed quite atatched to Kioko last I saw of it"
"There have been So-Kitsune before, and unfortunately, I’m sure there will be more - as long as the Nine-Tailed Fox hunts the flesh of men," the Chief Magistrate says.
"Yet the Exalted Patriarch of Sendai mentioned that this So-Kitsune of yours was from the future?"
"Knowledge of the future could be a very valuable resource…"
The Magistrate then thinks a moment about it and comes to a conclusion – "Take the So-Kitsune with you to Master Yunikawa."
"If she has any knowledge that can be of use to us, Master Yunikawa can obtain it – and of course, he would be one to know how to help the girl finally rest with the Ancestors in the peace that she deserves..."
---
Then in answer to Yuki's other question, the Chief Magistrate answers - "Ah yes, your powers are new to the presence of the Daimyo. You must mean about how one cannot see or read the Daimyo's aura."
"Rest assured, that is simply a precaution against spying that the Daimyo affords himself."
"I can see spirits when needed, yes," the Chief Magistrate replies, then takes a moment to activate Spirit Sight.
Looking at Yuki, he then takes out a small lopan and further examines Yuki with Read Aura.
"I don't see anything out of the ordinary with you, Yuki Shirahata," the Chief Magistrate concludes.
"If you are seeing something in yourself and that little So-Kitsune of yours, then perhaps you should bring it to the attention of Master Kenjiro Yunikawa when you see him."
"Other Wu-Jen know how to bind Oni and Elementals to their will, but it is said Master Yunikawa has the power to bind even the Spirits – something never before heard of. If anyone would understand 'mysterious spiritual attunements', as you say, then it would be him..."
After the ritual suicide and subsequent clean up, Juro Saito approaches Yuki.
"The Chief Magistrate will see you now," he says quietly.
Juro then leads Yuki into a private room, where after a short wait, the Chief Magistrate comes in.
"What's on your mind, young Shirahata?" he asks.
"Yes, if you mean that he is somehow shielded," Yuki's Mother replies. "But that is the prerogative of the Daimyo to keep himself very private."
She then adds, "I believe it is some sort of Arcane Relic - an old war Tesson - that he carries that allows him that level of privacy."
"You mean the Daimyo?" Yuki's mom guesses.
Yuki's Mother lets Yuki in.
"Shh... I just got little Kioko to sleep," she whispers, motioning toward the little fox-girl, asleep under a bundle of blankets on a nearby futon. Yuki sees that luminous little cloud spirit thing curled up under the girl's chin - purring like a kitten...
"She was really wound-up after all of the excitement with the tournament," Yuki's Mom smiles, "What can I help you with dear?"
"Yes," Juro replies, "I'll see if I can set something up for you tomorrow afternoon then and let you know."
"I presume it was just the appropriate time," Juro replies.
"Ah," Juro replies, apparently brightening a bit to suddenly be included in the conversation - "Kenjiro Yunikawa was the Grand Premier of the Sendai Order of Arcanum before the War. It was in part, due to Master Yunikawa and his mastery of demons, that Sendai held so long against the Chinese before the Daimyo fell in battle."
"Anyway, Master Yunikawa was already pretty old (even at that point), having also been advisor to the previous Daimyo, Ken-Ichi Hasekura - Daimyo Shinsen Hasekura's Uncle, and retired shortly after Daimyo Shinsen Hasekura was re-instated by the Chinese."
"He is pretty reclusive now; and I'm actually surprised that he suddenly showed up all of a sudden to request your services. I don't think he has been in Sendai for at least ten years before today."
