Community Conversation / Re: So I check CYS every once in a while
« on: June 11, 2021, 02:30:52 am »
Maybe every year or two, just to see how that community is doing, and like, holy shit I can't believe Kiel was a raging pedophile grooming the site's kids into a sex cult, did not see that one coming

And rip that taco kid that drew furry porn to fund Seth's kickstarter before he vanished, only to then get snatched up by Kiddy Hunter Kiel

Shit's wild

And was a big tranny that talked to voices in his head on top of all it.

Just checking to see if I remembered my password to this place. Forgot that I could see more stuff when logged in.

Hope the work on this is still going well. I know it's tougher finding the free time to write nowadays.

I just checked it and it was working for me.

I have gotten that "Service unavailable" a couple times before though.

Well today, it’s been working a lot better for me than it has for the past several days.

Still seems to have issues though at times. I think a few people are still experiencing problems.

Mizal said she checked Alex’s main site and that seems to be messing up as well so hopefully he might be in the process of trying to fix it.

And Bucky mentioned if CYS is still messing up by next week he might ask you if he can move the Atlas story/game on a forum over here. (Either that or he’ll create it over at IS I guess)

Wondering if we should start mass deleting old threads at CYS to speed it the hell up, of course it might just be CYS messing up for other reasons.

It died a couple times today. It was working then it slowed down and died with that usual error and was like that for awhile.

Then it came back briefly only to soon die again with the 503 error.

Yeah, it sucks since he made a pretty good story and he was definitely one of the best all around members on the site.

He probably would have laughed at this recent comment about his story:

It started off great; a few typing errors here and there, a bit of confusion over who spoke, but a very interesting premise with rich and delightful characters. The setting felt real and was well-written, with some excellent imagery, and there was a constant feeling of threat and conflict, which kept me on my toes, however . . .

. . . Cecelia was the start of the downfall; she was not developed *at all*, but came across as a love-at-first-sight Mary Sue (even odder when it alienates some people, as well as seemingly goes against the character, and breaks the genre of the story somewhat). I found Kelso to be a potential love-interest, much better than she was, and that it was even hinted at (the fact the hero's gender WAS ambiguous made this easier to believe, too, as he could be gay or straight as one wished to interpret, depending on what gender one assigned him).

Cecelia also marked the point I twigged who the Professor was, which ruined the upcoming element of 'surprise' and big 'twist' . . . I found myself skipping the text of the battle, no longer interested, and forced to endure more of this relationship with Cecelia (seriously, they'd known each other ONE WEEK, why would I - or they - care about their 'romance' when I have a huge battle raging on and deeper philosophical debate to consider)? I managed to guess all options from that point on to get to a good ending, simply as the narrative went from 'original' to 'predictable'.

Yes, it turned out the Professor was EXACTLY whom I thought he was . . . I would have been happy with that, had it been a chance to deeply explore one's loyalties, sense of identity, and the grey side to 'right/wrong' . . . instead it became a black-and-white choice with little explanation as to anything, making everything beforehand seem pointless.

So much potential as a story . . .

Wasted . . .

If this was rewritten WITHOUT Cecilia (or she was given - you know - a personality or some likeable traits), I would give it a much higher rating, but . . . frankly . . . Cecelia pissed me off so much - with her Mary Sue, Love-At-First-Sight, 'Soul Mate' crap - I felt that I was being sucked into a "Twilight" fanfiction by a teenager at that point and wanted to bang my head on a wall.

Probably won't replay.

It was written by the dudes who wrote the Hangover. They probably just went overboard with the girl power stuff since they figured that’s what women would like to see in the movie.

Really I’m more disappointed to hear that they aren’t really acting “bad” in the traditional sense. I figured they’d be more like female versions of Billy Bob Thorton’s character from Bad Santa instead (irresponsible behavior, excessive substance abuse, excessive swearing, disregarding their kids entirely, committing petty crimes, generally being horrible, etc). Or at least Peggy Bundy level times 10.

No, but I've eaten Doritos with lemon juice squeezed on them on occasion. I have put BBQ chips in chicken soup a few times.

White rice mixed with tuna fish and malt vinegar tastes good too. Used to also mix potato sticks with them, but I can't seem to find them at the store anymore so I just use those LaChoy rice noodles or sunflower kernels instead.

I hate that place. Lines are way too long, and rides are way too scary.

Lol, I hope you’re joking about the rides. The long lines do suck though.

I remember going to Cedar Point once when it practically rained all day, ended up spending most of the time in the large arcade there so it wasn’t a total loss.

Haven’t been to Cedar Point in a long time though. Last time I went was for my high school senior trip and the newest ride the Raptor just opened. I remember it being fun enough that I went on the ride twice that day. Favorite non-roller coaster ride was probably the Witches’ Wheel.

Media & Mayhem / Re: Saints row
« on: May 01, 2016, 02:33:22 pm »
Unless you’re really into the storyline, it isn’t really necessary to play the first three.

The first game feels more or less like an old GTA clone. It isn’t bad, it just is what it is.

The second game is still the best one. They added more stuff and still stuck to its gangsta roots.

Third one was crap. They were trying to do something slightly different, which might have been okay had they not cut a lot of the old stuff that made it good in the first place. (Had the worst storyline as well)

The fourth one you currently have is okay. Really plays a lot differently than the first three given that you gain super powers and all.

Never played the "5th" Saints Row (Gat outta Hell).

Still hard to believe that all started because I was getting annoyed with coins constantly posting oversized images on the forums.

Makes ya wonder what youd do to survive

Some of those people were just plain stupid as far as going about their survival though. I mean it was pretty obvious that outwardly acting like a ruthless dick and aggressively insulting other people was going to make one a target in that scenario.

Now quietly acting like a ruthless dick is another matter.

Yeah, I saw it. Reminded me of Cube, but just in a single room.

They should have left the ending a mystery though instead of showing the aftermath of the one who survived.

Well nobody's dying (yet), but family emergency and all that.

Won't be as active at CYS (or anywhere) for awhile, so if anyone wants to insult me over there (or here for that matter) it will be a fair fight.  :D

Still hoping to get some writing done on Rogues during the downtime (Finished all the beginning main branches of male path so far).

Michigan too.

Mainly in Hamtramck. When I used to help my dad, we usually were setting up bands during the festivals/parties they have at the various bars down there. (He’s probably doing that right now)

I always sort of found most paczki too sweet though.

I thought he was talking about Strong who hates it whenever you hack or pick locks.

Piper just hates when you pick locks that belong to citizens, she's fine with it when you're at some raider/super mutant/whatever hideout.

I got moderately nefarious on that evil test.

Really high on the Machiavellianism.

Medium on the other two, though I sort of thought I answered low on the narcissism since I don’t really see myself as a special snowflake and avoid being the center of attention in crowd situations, but apparently taking compliments makes you a raging egomaniac according to this test.

Even if you've got the officially patched version of the game, some of the endings are a bit buggy. The Hub and the Followers of the Apocalypse being the main two.

In both cases, you’ll only ever get the bad ending where the mutants ripped the places apart before you could save them. There were supposed to be positive endings (And I think the Hub had at least another neutral one), but they never pop up. I think the ONLY way you don’t get the bad endings is if you sort of do a speed run to destroy the mutant base and the Master. Even then, you just don’t get an ending at all for them. I can't remember if someone went digging in the code to do a mod patch where you can achieve the other endings.

I don’t think I ever used the gatling laser for any long period of time. I always went with the plasma rifle which you could then get upgraded in the Boneyard so it would not only do a lot more damage, but also cost less to shoot.

I usually aimed for the groin.

"Raider takes 135 damage and he wasn't wearing a cup either."

"Raider takes 117 damage and her child bearing years are in trouble."

Lol, yeah you can take aimed shots when you shoot, assuming you didn't take the fast shot trait that doesn't allow it or have a weapon that doesn't allow them. (like a grenade or something)

If you click on the weapon while in combat, it should cycle through your options (Like aim, reload, etc) and get the option to take an aimed shot and you'll be able to target body parts of your enemy.

I remember the first time I got around the super mutant in Necropolis was by convincing him I was a robot.

With the death claws you have to try to aim for their eyes, but failing that you could try crippling their legs so you can at least run out of their reach while you shoot them.

Farking Fallout, man. Freaking Cyber-Ogres blew my team and me to smithereens and I dunno how we're ever gonna be able to match up to that. Agh man. Hopefully the Glow-thing is in my level-range cuz everything else isn't :P

If you think the super mutants are fun, wait until you meet the Death Claws. hilarity will ensue.

I’m guessing you first met the super mutants at Necropolis?

If you’re going to the Glow make sure you got a lot of rad away and rad x first, because you’re going to get hit with rads to a massive degree as soon as you get there. Don’t worry about your followers if you have any, they won’t die from rad poisoning.

I dont really tend to think about these things. XD

I mark the White option on the SATs, if that helps. XD

You're actually darker than I imagined. I pictured someone more "Hollywood Jewish" complexion. (Basically white)

While you do look older than your age, you always sounded older than your age by your posts anyway.
