Okay, so just tested Alex's site while CYS was down and his is working fine. It's had a redesign and it looks like he's partnered with some company in Japan now so it's possible his business site is on a different server now. Definitely should contact him if this keeps up, we can't assume he even knows there's a problem at this point.

Mizal said she checked Alex’s main site and that seems to be messing up as well so hopefully he might be in the process of trying to fix it.

I'm not absolutely sure of that though, there was one point it just attempted to load forever but that could've been a fluke. If the site is still on the same server as CYS it makes sense though. Either way, if it hasn't fixed itself by Friday or so might be a good time for Berka or someone to email him just to see if he might have a better idea of what's going on and if anything's being done about it.

I must have been having weirdly good timing with CYS so far, I've really only had problems with it twice since the weekend even though everyone else has been mourning its demise pretty much non-stop. Although I haven't really been doing much more than peeking in once and awhile for a bit of random clicking around, I picked up some new books at a library sale the other day and so I have been reacquainting myself with what it's like to read stories that are actually good.  :')

e: Spoke too soon. CYS...is dying!!! please summon Alex to fix it omg I tried to grab a free point but I can't! :( :( :(

I'm just wrapping up what is by far the worst and stupidest thing I've ever written, WC parody included, and I for one am grateful that at the moment there's no thread to post it in.

Okay, I dumped my bio in the Politician thread, as a matter of historical record since that was a lot of words typed for no one to ever see. I hope we don't have a kneejerk 4 day policy here about smelly dead threads.

btw for those of you who don't pay much attention to CYS, all the entries for Bucky's short story contest are now available. If you've got the time it'd be cool if you could give them a read or a quick comment. I haven't read them all yet myself, but Will's and Steve's are definitely worth checking out and I assume the win will go to one or the other.  Will would definitely lose a knife fight with Steve so I hope the mystery judge has a fairer way to make up their mind.

It's nice that on CYS the stories that need to be removed always helpfully make that obvious within the first five seconds.

I know Endmaster doesn't really read very many, I remember he once said that he reads his own stories more  than any others on the site. Can't say I really blame him lol.

Yeah, I've done the forum mod thing before, and it's a thankless pain in the ass. My condolences to End and Killa. You don't even get a shiny different-colored name to milk for a fake sense of importance.

but but but the POWAH over the Lilliputians. Don't you know ruling a small web community with an iron fist is the only thing that brings meaning to life?

I mean, assuming you're not planning to do something truly valuable with your life, like waging war on a TVtropes page while high on painkillers and the warm affections of goats.

P.S. Go post your bio in the Politician thread I'm fixing to necro. (Lol my phone is just repeatedly insisting that should be 'Negro')

Iavatus, you too.

Okay, finally home, and it's Friday thank God. LOL I got about 4 hours of sleep last night and barely any writing done because there would be new posts every time I refreshed that thread. Meanwhile my Steam library is collecting dust and my computer remains untested because who needs games when you have CYS.

That thread was moving so fast last night but now that it's had time to be reflected on a little more, my main takeaway was that it's still impressive it stayed so civil most of the day. I mean considering that Bucky can't even make a thread about writing on a writing site without people with no interest in participating randomly wandering in to destroy it. (Plus, lap squirming. Ew.)

tl:dr seems to be that absolutely no one understands what the 'P' in PM stands for, most are satisfied or at least accepting of 3J's decision once the facts came out, some aren't nearly paranoid enough to live in this century or understand why site security is so important (though we all use CYS, so lol), and the usual few decided to argue shrilly about how Steve and I or whoever are getting vague, unspecified special privileges because we're good writers (Uh. I've never even published a story?) and this is super unfair ...while also insisting Kiel shouldn't have had admin powers even temporarily removed in spite of his actions. Because he's a good writer. (Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on my special privileges to arrive in the mail. It's quite exciting and mysterious because absolutely everyone who's talked about them have refused to give details.)

Thara has trotted out the one single trolling trick in her arsenal in three threads in rapid succession now and it's getting dull and samey (briefly entertaining watching her attempt to apply it to 3J but, only a little) though her whole attitude even when someone is trying to have a normal or civil discussion with her is pretty toxic IMO. She was even a bitch to Axiom and ffs, Axiom is like Soothing Professionalism incarnate. Bucky has expressed great shame and regret for ever thinking she was cool and must flog himself with barbed wire twice a day for the rest of the month as atonement.

Taco and Slasher are unstable children.

Soundstorm continues her streak of 100% of her posts here and on CYS being complaints and nasty little jabs fueled by hate, while apparently, honestly still under the impression she has some kind of moral high ground and is a nice person.

Really, the whole trend of  *parachutes into thread* 'You mother Farking asshole bitch shitting cunts should be more nicer and stop with the mean words!!!' *screams and fires into the crowd with assault rifle* is still funny on a few levels, but I'm starting to feel it'd be better to stop taking the bait altogether. It just becomes people who have no interest in participating in the site outside of their RPs or screwing around on the Lounge and bitching about whatever distracting the people who are on a writing site for the stories.

Anyway, I'm saddened that 3J doesn't want us all forming into 'crews' and having a gang war because that was the only good idea Soundstorm ever had. Bucky had an overlooked suggestion last night though and so based on that, can I at least request that, instead of '3J vs Kiel' which is boring, history frames this and all the other recent spats as 'Writing Workshop vs Forum Games'?

Also Axiom should totally be made a mod too, as long as we're having opinions on this kind of thing. Sorry but she is so much classier than all the current ones put together, and good at shutting people up. (I think it's the avatar, it's intimidating.)

This reminds me, I've been meaning to post my Politician bio. I'll dig it up when I get home.

Almost always. Steve calling that girl a retard or sexist is one of the occasions where someone from your "group" went first. <----- that sentence is Farking stupid and I'm actually really annoyed that you're referred to as a "group". I'd really like to kill that terminology because it's actually counterproductive to getting along.

but but but we're all in 'crews' now, didn't you get the memo??? Everyone will be changing their avs for the CYS turf war. Or was it going to be a high seas battle? I'm unclear on this, but, details.

I mean, you guys can be productive, but calling you trolls isn't exactly a stretch. You spend much of your time Farking with and insulting others for a reaction, which is trolling 101.

This has come up before, but I think an important distinction is that we always let the other side go first. I barely ever make threads and I'm always happy to talk about anything writing related or with an actual point, but I'm not exactly going to worry about making a mess on the floor when the house is built from shit to begin with or I see the ones who always like to do the most crying in there just smearing it around.

Plus there's always that tipping point where a thread starts sliding rapidly downhill, and then who cares what anyone does, it's all going to explode at the bottom either way.

Lol, if only 3J actually acted like a dictator, and we could just rid ourselves of anyone irritating instead of letting them stay around to let everyone know how mad they are.

Christ yes. 3J, look upon what your patience has wrought, and take the easier and more practical path.

Quote
Probably the most important part here, is acknowledging how completely and utterly retarded the whole argument over there was. CYS is just a website, and being a mod there is just a title for that one website.

This too, cannot be emphasized enough. If you're not enjoying messing around in a thread like that, or if the site is actively making you miserable, then don't inflict it on yourself, ffs. The internet is for fun. It is also quite large. All of us very privileged individuals who have the means and leisure time to use it aren't exactly limited in other entertainment options.

Most posters seemed to be there because they wanted to be, it's always just those two or three with the genuine tears and rage that send things off the rails. Never sure if it's some kind of genuine inability to control themselves or failure to read a situation or what, but either way it's a huge red flag for massively out of whack priorities.  These ppl need the silly knocked out of them and it's a service we're glad to provide whenever possible. :)

Anyone have taco's pms pm?

Sent posted it, or part of it anyway. Since I'm now just quoting a post made on a forum, I can get off my soapbox a minute lol.

Quote
Nothing confrontational or rude here, at least. But here's part of a PM.

(I know it goes against Mizal's code of juju, but Fark it, it's not the whole thing, and Taco decided to PM it to everyone anyway because she knew 3J would delete it, so it sure as hell ain't private.)

Nothing rude or confrontational where everyone can see it, but she's written two of the 9 PMs waiting for 3J when he gets back, and the first paragraphs of her first one are as follows:

Alright, so before this, I've been a little on the fluff side when talking with you. I generally don't like being serious. But I'm really farking pissed at you right now.
I've heard a single side of the story, and from what I have heard, you're being a mother Farking bitch. Excuse the language.
Now, I want to hear your side of the story. Don't you dare say it isn't my business. I want to know why, whether what I'd heard is accurate, and why the hell you're doing this to Kiel.
Last time I asked you, I already knew. I was trying for a nicer way of approaching you about it, so you could say what you wished without feeling like you were being pushed and retaliate in some way. Of course, I went about it the wrong way. Asked too many questions too quickly, so I figured I'd give it time to cool off before I tried again.
With the recent events, well, I figure it's time I stopped playing nice girl too.

Also holy shit Bucky, Thara is SALTY right now. Forum games are the third rail I guess.

I'm LOVING the roast on Taco, BTW. Keep up the good fight

Don't encourage me. ;-; I was supposed to be finishing my story tonight, not mocking annoying kids.

(For real though, fun and games aside, valuable lessons have been learned about not sharing sensitive info with kids, or with...admins who hang out with those kids, I guess, because then they do thoughtless things like passing it around or posting it on forums with streaks of mascara streaming down their face. :/ )

Related, I've seen some stuff written by Kiel about me that was pretty lol, and it was funny and all but I really shouldn't have been directly shown it. Maybe this kind of thing, the etiquette and importance of privacy in an online community etc. is something we need an article about.

As predicted, I missed a shitton of hilarious drama, and apparently no one was competent enough to paste a URL into the wayback machine, even after it was helpfully linked for them. Smh.

That announcement is pretty clear-cut though, holy shit. I can't see even hysterical tweens not realizing tossing admin privileges around to random friends for giggles and then the running-away-with-fingers-in-the-ears to hide reaction after as not being major, major reasons someone is unfit to be an admin. The second one is just childish but the first...again, holy shit. No one would be willing to hang around or post their work on a site where that was considered acceptable practice.

Kiel meanwhile is a good writer and it's Farking ridiculous he'd ditch the site and his stories and entire cult/family/harem/whatever rather than deal with the issue privately and retain his dignity. Sounds like none of us would've even known about this if he'd handled it like an adult.

The Skype whining must've reached hilarious levels too just judging by the skewed tear streaked rage from children about things that weren't even remotely the issue.

Edit: oh, missed the new CYS thread, and he's posting again. Well, waybacking THAT one anyway until I get a chance to read it...

Edit2: Lol I'm going to be late for work but WOW, posting private PMs on a public forum. Farking classy.

I think the first one got amputated into like five different pieces.

That happens to all of your writing threads.

I do remember the first one being nuked and split into several chunks, but can't remember why. All the CYS drama sort of blurs together after awhile.

Did it involve tanks?

So after all that they are just going with the 'cut it open and see' approach. Which is probably for the best, but they could've skipped the tests if they're willing to go ahead while still not even completely sure of what it is.

Best wishes, and hope this all gets sorted out quickly. 'Huh, there's something in there but we have no idea what it is?' are generally not the most reassuring words to hear from a doctor. :/

1) mizal are you okay?

The tests are a bitch, but I can understand them not wanting to cut someone open unless they know what they're dealing with. If anything I'm surprised they started with an ultrasound, I spent a couple of weeks last month thinking I was dying and they didn't seem to think much of those and forced me to get a CAT scan. (Haven't seen the bill yet, maybe magical fairies paid for it or maybe they forgot????)

Anyway, it's scary regardless so the sooner they find out what it is the better, just for your peace of mind. Sorry that it's hurting, but in a way that might be a good sign since like you said, it may mean it's just a cyst.

Always stood out to me as a show where the cast so obviously likes each other and where having fun, and it really showed with the chemistry between the characters.

I don't agree with making Gender Identity or 'What You Were Born With' the two litmus tests for which restroom to use.

I suggest that people separate their personalities from their junk and just use the restroom designed for the plumbing they currently carry. So, by this standard, a post-op transgender person should be welcome in the corresponding bathroom without hassle.

This is the solution that uses the most common sense, so of course it will never even be considered. Instead we get a choice between people apparently wanting everyone to have to show their birth certificate to the proper authorities and perhaps undergo a junk check before they step into a restroom, and people who act like being asked to just take their penis into the penis room for thirty seconds is a social wrong on par with slavery or being denied a right to vote.

. Someone who commits a crime is a criminal, regardless of anything else. And violent criminals, by the very state of being violemt criminals, don't exactly have a high respect for paper laws.

Well you see, clearly schools and businesses need to start putting up anti-rapist signs outside of bathrooms, just like schools and their helpful and effective 'this is a gun-free zone' notices. I tell you what, those things just stop criminals right in their tracks, and leave them all helpless and confused and stuff.

Personally I'm mostly just happy that men trapped in women's bodies may now awkwardly attempt to use a urinal. Truly, a right worth fighting for.

37
I do a lot of crockpot cooking because I'm incredibly lazy.

Sometimes on the weekends I'll make big batches of chili and cornbread, or meatloaf, lasagna, enchilada casserole or whatever. In theory I love to experiment around but in practice that takes a lot of time and expensive ingredients so I stick to boring things, and mostly the aim is just to remove the necessity of cooking during the week.

I used to be able to make this amazing lemon meringue pie with a pecan shortbread crust I learned from my mom, but haven't done it in years because...well, effort and stuff. Meh.

I would be interested to see what your IRC friends thought about the Hateclan story on CYS.

It was unpublished along with the WC games, but is a truely awful parody of it haha!

I don't think I've ever seen that one? I'll have to check it out. Can't be as awful as my own awful parody though.

I've always been a little surprised none of the diehard WCers tried to be clever and get around the ban by writing bad stories about a clan of tigers in a jungle, or just put pants on all the cats and made them live in villages in the woods.
