Relatively unknown developers/Favorite games
« on: September 17, 2015, 07:52:30 pm »

OK there are a lot of developers that aren't given the proper attention, who need that love as they are brilliant, or are just underrated.

Like this one: Choice of Games...They make CYOAs that usually are 250,000 pages! I currently own two of them, Mecha Ace and SLAMMED! *The second is a WRESTLING CYOA that is very well written, emotionally charged.*

As for favorite games...Well TF2 is an obvious one but there are a good few that are quite good, Warhawk for the PS1 is one such game.

The first Spyro was an excellent game. So was Battletanx for PS1.

I know it's kind of underground, but I really loved Skyrim. So vintage.

Man, you guys have to play Shadow Warrior (The new one). I got it for a huge sale on Steam (bought it for 4 dollars when it's normally 60) and it was insanely fun.

You know how we're always talking about Naru and his katana-wielding characters who decapitate a billion undead demon doplhins? Well in this game you can actually do that.

Best swordfighting ever.

Broforce is also a fun one.

*44$, not 60

I've downloaded Shadow of Mordor but haven't gotten around to playing it. I hear the fighting system is like the Arkham knight fighting though - in which case Shadow Warrior is probably better. For reference, here's the trailer:

The swordfighting is exactly as advertised.

The guns kinda suck but there's some nice upgrades (like the exploding crossbow bolts or the flamethrower bomb).

The humour's also awesome.

You should get around to Shadow of Mordor, they have this feature called the Nemesis system, and its just so Farking cool. You got overpowered towards the end, but beyond that, it's a blast.

Oh, and the graphics are shit on last gen. That's pretty irritating,  but it doesn't take all that much away from the experience.

Starbound, if you're not putting up with multiplayer shitz, is still a nice time muncher.  Albeit a bit lonely, the game mostly puts emphasis on that theme with a slow, almost Western soundtrack (that for some dumb reason can only be extracted if you pay the company extra, Farking shite).  Battles are pretty fun when you combine scenarios with various mechanics like tech implants to dash, teleport, use rocket boots, etc.

For a game that's been out a little shorter than terraria, though, it's not able to hold a candle in the least.  The only really good thing about Starbound, though, is the modular capabilities it has.  You can go to multiplayer servers with people loaded with modded features and that's absolutely fine.  No conflicts, no crashes (at least, not in part of the mods as it is with just plain stability).

It's got about near infinite planets to go to, in a 9.99 X 10^7 grid of a star system.  You can even go beyond that with no problems other than navigating but dragging your mouse to the edge of the map.

Progression is a lot like Terraria, except they lock you in the tutorial planet that takes about 2-4 hours to complete, which is usually the turn-off point for the game.  After that, you're free to go off on your own.
