Forge's Final War 2

So getting round to this now that life has slowed down and there is less plague in my house.

Will hopefully run Final war 2 on BHB in the next week or two. There will be some changes from  the original if only to ensure the game can't drag on at the end, I'll promote it over on CYS as I would need 6-8 starting players.

This is all presuming BZ thinks it is a good plan to run it here ofc.

It's a strategy type game.

A short summary is that you pick an army made up from units from history eg. Spartan soldiers, Persian cavalry and English longbow men etc. then battle against others by giving in depth plans to use for a specific goals I give (eg. Find the hidden forts and capture them) . I then use my stats sheets, terrain and a small luck roll to find the outcome of any conflicts and posts results for all to see.

each round the loosing army gets booted out until only 1 remains.

slightly more in depth: You submit the army and I'll put it all into stats sheets giving each troop type scores for attack, defence, speed, stamina and loads of other things including specialties ie. Gladiators would have a specialty that might be brawl type fights or 1 on 1 fights where phalanx would be specialty defence in formations and against cavalry etc.

The weighting for outcomes is: Plan and Troop Stats>variable like weather, terrain and unexpected>Luck.

Obviously due to the nature of the set-up (You pm-ing me the plan) Some of the result will be subjective as I have to occasionally pit plans directly against each other but I do my best to ensure the majority of things is decided by the stats and sheets.

Oh each round someone is taken out then?

That's a shame, multi-round fights got to be really awesome last time (like sieging Galo's super-castle or chasing down Lexi's fleeing army or how Aman took, like, 10 rounds to siege and kill Hugo)

I might make allowances some rounds but I am assuming at least 3 people to go NPC on me that I will remove instead of active players.

maybe a player every second round...

It's all good, all this means is that now I have to step up my aggressive tactics so that I kill a minimum of one player per round!

Interesting. Are historic soldiers weighted differently based on how you view them or is that more for flavour?

soldiers are all taken to be experienced and have very similar base stats but variations based on what I found I can find on them like scouts will have faster speed and much higher stealth where Medieval French Knights will have higher strength and armour.

then their specialties have big effects, if you send a phalanx into a huge brawl out of formation they are going to get destroyed but tell them to hold a defensive point in formation they will get a huge buff

Erm and one more slight issue.

I was still referencing my old final war thread a bit and it has now been purged by the great fires of progress. So no more referencing my old thread or intro posts.

Hopefully still get intro and recruitment posted today though depending on how much time I get between taking care of sick wife and hyper toddler...
