I have to see a doctor tomorrow about these bone spurs in my left foot. I believe they are gonna need surgery this time. I need to be able to walk around at Gen-Con and I do not want to put this off any longer though. What to do. BZ is dying to push me in a wheelchair but that is a little too much for the Con.

I have to make a decision; SURGERY NOW or SUFFER 3 MORE WEEKS!!!!!! HELP!!!!!

I guess the question is, if you have the surgery, would you be recovered enough to walk by GenCon (two weeks from now)?

Don't sweat the wheelchair; the fun is in running over the feet of all those mouth-breathers clogging the halls talking about their 20th level half-Drow rangers.

Don't sweat it!! You'd get to take it easy in the wheelchair...you can also rent a motorized scooter thing at the convention center I believe. That way he doesn't even have to push you. Plus you can load up the back of the wheelchair or scooter with stuff so no one has to lug it!

It's a win win!

LOL But really, most times you go see a doctor and they recommend surgery the surgery date is usually weeks away unless it's an emergency. Most surgeons schedules are pretty booked up. I could be wrong, they may have an immediate opening, but I have rarely seen that.

Plus you can ask the doctor to give you a Handicapped Parking pass so you and the Zerka can get those sweet close parking spots!

Alright here is the verdict.

I went to the orthapedic surgeon, and he no longer does surgery

How 'bout them apples

They referred me to go to another surgeon, who is out of the office until July 27, so the decision is made for me

I have to suffer the painful consequences and wait until I come back. Now I get to walk around Gen Con with a thumbtack in my shoe ( that is what it feels like ). Thanks for the advice all. All I have to say is I am going to change my name badge to say " Limpy the Gimp".

See, a long time ago, Lady Z promised me that when she was pregnant with our little one, she would let me push her down the hall in the hospital wheel-chair.

I offered every visit we made and she (perhaps wisely) declined each time. When she was finally in labor and we went to the hospital, she said I could finally have the honor - but... the nurse at the door said no!

I still offer every now and then (like at walmart with the old folks carts), but I have been robbed ever sinse

OK. How about after a day or two of walking, you can find a wheelchair for me. You know how much pain I get in. The only thing I am afraid of is I know how you cherish the turbo in the car; therefore you would not hesitate to turbo the wheelchair. lol

As long as he keeps a hold of it and doesn't do the "run down the hall and let go" trick you should be fine

Fat chance of that happening; he will be handcuffed to me for safe keeping. What happens to me; happens to him

His day will come to push me. I am not looking forward to being non-weightbearing on my leg for 2-3 weeks but the pain is so severe sometimes it will be worth it. Even letting BZ push me in a wheelchair. ( I have life insurance

Well, let's see. I just so happen to have a wheelchair. Actually, it's my mother-in-law's (we keep it for the times she visits), but I'm sure she won't mind if I borrow it.

I also happen to have a pair of handcuffs... um, never mind. Forget I said that.

Hey everyone. Please keep my mom in your prayers. BZ and I are at Allegheny general Hospital in Pittsburgh and my mom has a pretty complex surgery on her back they are doing. I am waiting for the results as we speak. My foot surgery will be in January. I will be good to go for Origins and Gen-Con. No more LIMPY!!!!!!

My surgery could possibly be around January 10. I have to make sure it does not clash with clinicals though
