Alright. So, making sure. Presence is more acceptable then dominate, right?

No, it's still using your powers on another without their permission. It's like asking me to trust you not to abuse a blood bond and then asking me to drink your blood 3 times, haha!

Yeah but drak said this;

So you're telling me that Anton, the proud, Iron-willed ashen knight, would easily let another vampire's servant debase him by bending him to their will like putty and forcing him to do whatever they asked?

Out of principle, being dominated is horribly invasive and offensive, it certainly isn't something the good deal of you should be accepting so easily. Presence is another thing - though comparatively easily resisted.

Presence is widely used in conversations between kindred. It's insulting, yes, and certainly not something casually done, but it cannot actually control you the way Dominate can so it's more acceptable.

The Love Thrall part of Presence does seem a bit controlling though.

(I hope Sylvan is OK with Steeple dry-humping his leg when he uses it on him ...) XD

So, unless I am mistaken, we are at a standstill and all have spoken on the matter.

Let's get the Retainers out of the way - and if they offer no resolution, then we can all gloom and doom on Kiril - wondering if his Retainers know anything.

Personally, even if it comes to that, Steeple is on Kiril's side with not using Disciplines against each other. It's too Meta-Gamey IMO - being that as Players, we are all 'this will work so let's do it', while to the Characters, there are Vampire Social Mores in play that they would know better than we as Players would.

Not saying you can't play your characters anyway you want, but if you choose to be a forceful brute with no regard for proper protocal, then you will be treated and trusted as such. Which in this case is not good for the Coterie or the logic behind it staying/working together.

Yes, there might be a traitor in the midst, but so what. If I might meta-game myself here a bit, I am already 100% certain that we are being screwed over by duplicitous design on at least 3 sides by those who are supposed to be our mentors.

If our characters press Kiril (or any other character) to the point of them having to fight us, then the enemies of the Coterie win.

Fark you, guy who stole from us.

From a really meta standpoint, Kiril is obvi innocent; the guilty one would never set himself up against the rest of the coterie.

IC, Kiril is established as hella possessive of his servants- he almost fought steeple just for talking to Sherazhina-  and I will fight any of you that try to dominate her.

Each of the servants so brought forward is innocent of any wrongdoing.

The only ones who have not been examined are Kiril's, and Kiril himself.

Wait, who exactly has been examined? And by whom?

At first you said "each of the servants," but then you say "the only ones who haven't been examined are Kiril's servants and Kiril himself." (Which implies the other kindred had been examined)

Also, by necessity, it must not include the examiner.

Is an excellent example of the kind of vague description mystery authors use to conceal information.

None of the vamps have been examined, as per your agreements. Sylvian has no servants, Sylvian would have examined Ennius.

What, you think i'm going to write out something in big capital letters saying "JOSEPH TOATS DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, BUT ANTON TOTALLY SHADOWPORTED THAT SHIT RIGHT THERE!"?

You ran your examinations, your examinations found that absolutely not a single one of the servants had anything to do with any of this (to your knowledge). If you want to re-examine them, you'll get the same results. You want to re-examine them a hundred thousand times in a row, your sires will arrive wondering what the hell you're doing and you'll still get the same results. What, exactly, are you expecting here? I'm answering your goddamn question. All the servants brought forward, based on the methods you've chosen to interrogate them with, are innocent.

Steeple knows that "they" are going to come after the Key, so he hid it from "them" to protect not only the Key, but the Coterie.

Anyways, I'll finish the rest of the write up for the scene later, then we finish this and move on to Act two.

Which is sick, because Act two is the First act of the Bitter Crusade, which is by far the best chronicle out of the lot.

That was Steeple trying to fosh the responsibility of the Key off on someone else that he figured could handle it. When Zelios declined, and basically mentioned "You are all DOOMED if you keep these," Steeple knew that he had to act.

Yeah, that's it... yeah.  ;D

Also, it's worth considering that if Radu asked about a translation key and you guys lost it before he got there (or failed to send it to him in the first place) it would be considered a failure on your parts (and as we've discussed, failure = very very bad things happening to you at this juncture. Lucky for you, Radu gives 0 shits about the translation key...)
