I've been under the impression that TV judge shows are only about as genuine as pro wrestling for a long time, but I'm starting to reconsider. I mean, the tone in his voice as he tries to make it sound less weird then it actually is is just too real... And the comments were surprisingly less volatile then I'd expect, which was kind of a disappointment. Still, like the first chick said, "Way to perpetuate stupid stereotypes".

Erm... How exactly are you using the term 'sucked off' in the paragraph above?!?

I'm not entirely sure it's a euphemism for 'cheesed off' and it certainly makes Drako sound like a filthy back alley trollop haha!

Oh, I mean rocked off in vaccumal mouth form. And I didn't mean to insinuate that Drako was a she, or a sucker-offer, I was talking about the gemergate girl who may or may not have sucked off a dude to get good reviews, or whatever it was that caused all that Gamergate gibberish.

One day on a gamergate discussion haterally thread, Drako stated that the dude she sucked off was probably desperate, being an obscure game reviewer and all. Curiously, I looked her up, but I didn't get a good look at her, because I was terrified someone would look over my shoulder for some reason and slammed the X button when somebody got within ten paces of me. From what I saw, she was actually pretty, and I told Drakoblare that.

Drakoblare was like "Well, okay, to each their own. Lol." and then I was like "She's kinda pretty, though. I mean, the piercing and emo hair are a bit of a throw-off, but... Are you sure we googled the same Zoe?" and then Drakilian was like "Jesus Sentinel, you blind or somefin?" Then I shrugged it off and let it go, thinking we just had different tastes, never really thought about it until now when I was re-watching old Jimquisition videos that got me thinking about gamergate again, and then that convo.

Weird cheekbones, bad taste in eyeliner... Negh...

So, I figured, since it's been a very long time since the controversey and nobody would give any Farks if I did some googling and left it in my history. Well, it turns out, the Zoe Quinn I googled for seconds at a time to avert suspicion becomes a very different Zoe Quinn when you get to see her for longer periods of time on google images.... I, uhh... Certainly see why Drak and Drako were shocked when I said she was pretty now...

This time, my question is for the noir/spy Faction game I'm trying to run for CYS

How should I handle vehicles and vehicle combat when all the vehicles are cars and everyone's just shooting out through the windows? And how would airplanes and helicopters work, too?

Just an idea

That sounds like a great idea. At least way better then saying "You do double damage to surprised enemies" and then giving them the smoke bomb ability to duck out of combat and try again if they don't die.

We used the Amazing Feats in our Mythic Nippon Game. They tend to allow for a seriously OP game toward the end (after 100 XP) - but feel free to create your own skill or power trees as you will  8)

Amazing Feats

Oh my god, the drunken master is so glorious!... Have any of them ever actually wielded small children, or is that just an example?

So, about this skill-tree I've been thinking of setting up,

As opposed to edges, I'm thinking of using straight-up stunts that characters can do. Players who go up magic trees will earn new base spells, melee and ranged characters will earn new combat maneuvers, and the maneuvers and spells would have prerequisite levels and/or other maneuvers and spells.

So, for example, the Dark Magic path has "Hack Undead" as one of the low-level abilities, which allows you to control pre-ressurrected undead creatures, which you will need in order to unlock "Raise undead" which allows you to raise your own zombies.

Classes start out with stunts/spells/maneuvers/whatever you want to call them in the middle of various branches, and have an advantage in the fact that they don't need prerequisites in order to learn skills further down the branches, and can upgrade quicker down the tree, learning things up their alley faster than other classes.

So, for example, where a one class that wasn't involved in that particular tree would need to go through all the motions of learning the prerequisites in order to get to a certain skill,  another would already have that certain skill, and would then proceed to learn the prerequisites  to that skill to easily learn other skills.

The problem is, I can't think of that many ranged and melee stunts, or how to effectively, but not overpoweredly introduce a "Backstab" stunt for the Assassin class.

Alright. Now that I've found how word-finder on Google Chrome also works on PDFs, my understanding of BHB has risen significantly. I now know that weapons such as whack-a-mole hammers and enormous novelty erasers hurt your vitality points, (And your dignity points!)  and things like guns and knives and knife-shooting guns hurt your wound points... Unless Stun and lethal are different things entirely?...

Regardless, my knowledge has more holes in it than a stop sign in the backwoods, and I'd very much appreciate it if someone could demonstrate a round of combat or something to help me out here.

Also, a question about the book. You know the muscle man in the pictures with big shades, an intimidating beard, and a totally ballin' hat? What's the Star-of-David-esque thing tattooed on his upper arm? I think I saw it before somewhere, but I can't quite place it.

Bubbles? they dont do anything out of the ordinary bulbbly bubbles thing.

The thing itself works like when you start to drink you light up the marijuana part at the same time, as the beer goes down the bong fills itself with THC smoke. Then you can take a hit after you've chugged down the beer.

If you're asking what the point is in a beer bong, the answer is simple. Speed. (And ofcourse we measure manlyness by how fast you can drink beer)

Ah, I didn't know it was a beer bong. The page you showed me never specifically said, and I never saw a beer bong before, even though I live in Farking Wisconsin. Seriously, this is land of lakes, beer, Germans, and hemp rope, I'd suspect that would be the only kind of bong around here...

You could (as the GM) restrict people from buying specific skills, but it's inherently classless. Albeit I feel that's the best way it works. Forcing people to play a specific way is annoying (imo). If I want to play a Presence based warrior, I should be able to, just a a wizard should be able to be a athletics and agility focused. It shouldn't be based on class but on what the character's backstory is. ^_^

Races are pretty easy to do in BhB. Just give them NPC edges. (BZ has a list of possible npc edges, like foul stench, invisible in water, etc etc). Adding cool edges is definitely possible, as its a very easy system to just add crap to. (Like in Forge's Halo game)

1. Oh, nonononono, I don't want to do that Railroady thing. You can have presence and other default skills/feats, classes just dictate what kind of super-special abilities you can buy up front. Like, a Black Paladin can use ethereal chains to trip/pull his foes, but a Hunter is going to have to do some serious training into the Black Magic branch of the default skill tree if he wants to do that. Effectively, you could be a shotgun-wielding battlemage with a 2h sword if you hoard enough EXP points, but classes just select various skill tree abilities and make them easily accessible depending on how you want to play early in the game, or what your prerequisite skillset is. Like the Dark Souls class thing, but it matters a bit more.

EVERYTHING is available in the default tree for everyone, classes just take convenient scoops out of that tree to save time and mix up the party's skillsets.

2. Okay, sounds fun!

Would this place  be a reliable source?

http://www.d20srd.org/

I guess, since it's free, that I'll be able to get BHB anyway.

Could one introduce a class system in BHB by allowing people to buy things customly, but allowing different skill trees for each class? (E.G. One guy has a Default Skill Tree, which gives him an advantage in general, and then a Ranger Skill Tree, which allows him to upgrade the things that a hunter does.)

The races I have in mind probably wouldn't translate into BHB well, though, since creatures like Mermaids and Grues are downright superhuman.

Community Conversation / Re: BHB Products Here On The Comlink

Actually... Which system, QAGS, BHB, or otherwise, would be best for a Dungeon-Crawlie + Open-Worldy type-game with custom races and classes?  I know that Dungeons and Dragons works sometimes, (I've read a book about orcs in Kingdoms of Kalamar which really explores the things you can do with classes/races.) but I have no idea which edition to use, and I'm not sure I could handle fotzing around with all those numbers without a lot of things messing up. (Especially if I get to any of the parts with exponential powers.)

Basically, I'm looking for something with freedom, (but not too much freedom, because there's just something cool about having a ruleset.) where roleplaying can be a higher focus point, and where you can create all manner of custom shit. BHB looks pretty good, as far as the right amount of freedom goes, but, from what I've seen, it's really lacks the inherent racism and classism that you can have in a D&D character sheet.

Definitely need some help and advice from more experienced system gamers.
